Re: MiniByzy (Mini Byzantium) Build Thread

I gotta tell ya, Dave! This build is so challenging for me! Just building the jigs for duplicity (I may wanna make more of these someday) has been rough. I have "Incra" miter slides on the bottoms of the two big table saw sled jigs. What a difference a good miter slide makes!!! The price of those slides forced me to put at least 3 functions in each sled, to get the most for my money. (read:I couldn't afford another slide!:D) If you haven't yet, check out those Incra products. I'm not a speaker connosiuer at all, but I love fiddling around with tough builds. This ones been a blast! If you're in the Detroit area some time, stop by. I'd love to show you some crazy jigs.

Most people couldn't afford ONE of those Incra Miter doo-hickeys! Much less another! lol. Unless you're talking about the little thing you push the wood with :o At a loss for technical terms now lol.

I figured you were into it for the challenge. I have a home made slide. Just checked out the Incra slides. They do look nice and well thought out. Now I'll have to do a job that will require buying one.

Ever wondered what Ed looks like? Here's his best profile.

Partially trimmed. He's going to be using his Radarcarve to remove the bulk of that excess.

Ugh. Makes my builds look uninspiring! I love the curves on them.

Is it still a build thread if you're not the one doing the building?

I'm just documenting it for Ed mainly, but I'll be doing the crossover work and Ryan (DoubleTap) will be helping with the final finish I do believe.

Now that he has the jigs, Ed says he'll be able to put a pair together in just a few hours, in between epoxy cure times.

Ed used a special hand saw, and belt sander. Much of the material was first ground down with a router on a custom jig/base and spiral cutting bit.

Here's a shot of the 2" thick baffle before the wave guide is cut into it. The actual woofer hole will be centered another inch lower than shown, and will include a generous roundover or chamfer.
