That's got to be the strangest combination of "o_O; wtf " and " fantastic!" out there :D

Ed is working on matching stands. We just used what we had on hand for now, while we wait for a matching foundation.

I'd love to see what you come up with Lunch.

    LOL....

That design isn't going to be easy to pair up with stands. When I look at them I keep getting a "beer belly" image in my head.

Well that's a bit rough... lol...

I'm going to do a sketch of some stands for these that I think might work.

Wow those are just sick. Geat job Pete.

May I offer a minor critique? Hopefully you just thought "ok", cuz here goes.

In my humblest of opinions, the stands ain't working. You've got such a stout, curvaceous, monolithic cabinet sitting on top of pretty standard looking stands, which look too light and airy and scaffolding-esque in comparison.

Ideally that form wants to grow out of the ground (like their big bothers), or a very stout platform that "grounds" them.

They're a bit like potatos standing on toothpicks at the moment.

Just this industrial designer's 2 cents.

Again, beautiful design on this cabinets. You just need to work on how to lift them off the ground.

    ;)

You and Ryan never cease to impress. I won't make it to Chicago this year but hopefully I'll get a chance to hear them some time sooner or later.

BTW - what was the veneering method?
Hot press glue. We used the heat lock glue from Joe Woodworker, and a standard clothes iron to affix it. Worked really well; smoothed out all the wrinkles in the veneer, just like it would with a shirt. Then trimmed with a fresh box cutter blade after all the edges were treated with cold press veneer glue and allowed to dry.

Beautiful weather we've been having here in Cardinal Country. Progress is being made.

One cabinet is veneered with a couple coats of clear applied.

That's Pelin Burl chief ... and look at the size of those sheets! And only 1 or 2 voids I'll have to work around, this stuff will pop like crazy when oiled up.

Ryan's getting ready to veneer the first set. Stunning Walnut Burl. The WG baffle is off for paint.
