When I used them in a build for a friend, I thought "wow these are like toy poodle woofers woofers--beautiful but wimpy" comparing them to much beefier 6.5's I had used in the past (Usher, Scan Speak). However, they absolutely blew me away with the naturalness of presentation and high resolution. The bass was very good to about 50Hz at moderate to loud volumes. Go lower or seriously loud, they run out of gas. But the midbass midrange is pretty much SOTA in my experience--note I haven't heard many of the pricier Accutons and other cost no object drivers.

I'm actually hoping that someone who has heard both say they are sixes.

I too am interested in comparing the Vifa NE line vs. the SB Satori line. I'm thinking of a possible 2-way using a Tranducer Labs tweeter (maybe MgO) with a higher end 5, 6 or 7 in. (paper/composite) mid-bass. Clean and detailed mids. are more important here than an deeper bass. I have also posted this on another forum. Anybody have direct comparisons (listening, testing, measuring)?

Its specs are out of this world. If it makes it to [DIY] market, it's like the ultimate 7" woofer! 'Course, there's no telling on what the price might be

I like the idea of a 26.5 liter box alot ! But I have no way to save files or down-load software, as the computer I'm using is not mine. I hope to have mine done and/or back by late sept ! Could you still use the PE 0.75 box as its only 22 liter, or just construct a deeper cabinet ? Thank-you very much for your efforts, I need all the help I can get !

Here is the frequency response I modeled on a 10x17 baffle(PE's .75cu.ft. cabinet). Cabinet diffraction really closed the gap quite a bit to that rise in fr at 1100hz. I modeled it in a 26.5L box tuned to 38hz centered on a 10x17 baffle with .5inch round-overs with the driver centered side to side and 9 inches down from the top of the baffle.

Just open it in wordpad and save it as all file types with a .frd extension instead of .txt. Put it in PCD and use the xover in the link you posted and see what happens.

Could you post your design when you get time ? I really love reading this stuff, very much so when people build killer 2-ways ! Sounds Awesome ! What do you think about the D2604/833000 tweeter for use with Usher 8137A in a possible 2-way ?

I am leaving for San Antonio tomorrow morning so it'll be near the end of next week before I get a build thread up. Mainly to document some of the mistakes/problems I ran into and the solutions I came up with.

As far as the 8137A, I was thinking that was the 8836 when I said it would be fine in a 2way. The 8137A would work in a 2way, but there might be better alternatives. The D2604/83300 is a great tweeter, but I don't know how it'll do for the sub 1.5khz xover point that the 8137a woofer needs.

If you really want to use an 8", Zaph is testing couple of the AC200/50C2C for me. I have high hopes that it will lend it self to a 2way that will xover between 1.5khz and 2khz. We'll see.

I just buttoned up a 2way last night that uses the NE180-04 and the Scan-Speak D2604/83300. I do not have much listening time yet, but I can tell you that it is has a very revealing sound for lack of a better term. Very detailed with good bass performance. I did push it a little, and it showed no sign of strain.

Thanks Pete ! I kinda like the rounded look, that one just looks to much like it belongs in a band speaker. Although Klipsch seems to like them !

If you can machine down the back of this one, it might work well.

Could you recommend a tweeter if going 2-way with a wave-guide ? Also as to a wave-guide, do you know of any around 6" in diameter and round ?

RS28, SB29, DX25.

MCM used to carry a nice 6.5" guide, but I don't know where you can find it anymore.
