    Let's see: $0.69 for the Sony buyout woofer (299-012) + $0.05 for the Onkyo buyout tweeter (269-810) + + $0.35 for the high quality, high voltage cap = $1.09 x 2 = $2.18 + a few dollars for shipping = Realization: I am in the wrong business!!

Yay! I've been staring at mine for way too long.

I pondered going with a variation on the Wildeman with double the woofs and less padding on the tweeter, but I like the idea better of a dome for some reason.....

I really wanted to build a sealed alignment but OB is not out of the question.:D

'Bout time! I've been itching to do something with these and figured you'd probably have a great design.

"It's quiet out there, too quiet." How about a progress report or a little summation from the builders of the various Sony buyout projects?

Thanks for the Peel and Seal idea. I went down to Lowes and got a roll -- looks ideal for the driver frames and other uses as well.

BTW on my build I used rope caulk on the basket of all 9 woofers in each cabinet. No metal noises from the baskets.
None of mine have the gaskets either. Not only are those frames ugly, but they ring like nobody's business.

I used Peel & Seal on mine.

I'm pairing my build with a small powered Aura sub and a Lepai amp, so we're talking low wattage. Plus, they are going to be given to my son's art teacher for his classroom. Background music duty will be their job, and in that setting, I think they will do just fine.
I'm interested to see how that Aura sub turns out.

With the Lepai amp, it's not straining at all on a solid 4ohm load huh?? That's great to know.

I'm doing a MMTMM with some of mine, but I'm not close to getting them assembled for a listening test just yet.
