there was some who were curious so i picked up a pair this week on my trip through the great state of ohio. if anyone wants ts, let me know.

just mounted in a box. no bass this way otherwise clear.

i think so. at this price perhaps a lowend line array. it has a very thin frame.
i had just hooked up a new amp and eq to my desktop system. i suspect this fr is eq'ed. ill do it again in the morning.

i did not check. tomarrow i will. what voltage would you recommend? i will also run an impedence sweep and ts.

Normally I'd run distortion sweeps at the round about expected SPL. (92ish on pink noise)
The other option is to do 2.83v but I am not sure if these buyouts will be able to handle it. Then you are measuring with Omni, is Spl level absolute (calibrated) or relative?
Also, see if you can do a nice CSD. May reveal residual cone/frame ringing.
the omni noise is not 100% steady but i think the voltage was around .15. the spl was steady around 85db. perhaps a bit abusive for this driver. i did not include vas as i have not figured that out yet. i will learn that when im forced to. second fr is 15degrees off axis.

Longtime lurker.... I'm on a bunch of the other forums though as well. A friend and I picked up a bunch of these to play around with. I will be following the thread to see how it unfolds. I am interested to see what a skilled group of designers can come up with for such an inexpensive driver.
i really have no intentions of using them. i just get by pe every few weeks so i grabed one to test.

Well thanks for testing them.... How unfortunate for me then if you have no further plans.... since what I know about crossover design would not fill a thimble. I am trying to learn though. I have been buying different drivers (to start a few builds) but I also grabbed some of these figuring they would be the least painful for me to try out designs since they are basically free. So far all I have done is mount 4 of the drivers (series, parallel) with a Goldwood GT-302/S 1/2" Mylar Dome Tweeter with a resistor to cut off the low freqs and gave them a quick listen. They seem to handle the midrange fairly decent but rolloff pretty quick in the lower frequencies.
I may try and design a crossover for the TMMMM as they currently sit, or a small MTM. Which even that task is probably more than my current knowledge base will allow...but if someone designs a line array I may attempt that as well. In any case they should be fun to play around with (with minimal cash outlay).
i suppose it may be fun to do a 12 per side array. i dont know how many tweeters it would take to even things out.

man, it's really hard to see Qs on that WTG3 picture. May be I am just getting older and need glasses.
I do not like Omni and don't trust it sorry. According to your measurements, distortions of this driver are going up only slightly below 100hz. It's either that or I can't see the scale or the voltage was too low to bring the driver in to operating range.
I think they may be a good contender for a line array, possibly dipole line array.
Use 12 or 9 per side. You will not need Baffle step because of how FR of the drivers will add up in the line array. I'd run them 120hz up in to 5000hz with capable tweeter. Match the tweeter by efficiency. Inexpensive horn will work. Like this one http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...umber=292-2556
I am going to guess that 5k ringing is coming from the frame reflecting back in to the driver. I'd try to place some sound absorbing foam there and measure again.
I think this could actually be a very interesting project. Support the base with a nice 10" in to 120hz active, top off with the horn and you'll be surprised.
I'd work more on the driver itself tho.
