They raised the need to finish the waveguide surface by hand and I was hoping to get an idea of by how much from this exercise.
This is a round waveguide, with an elliptical profile. Cut into MDF, it will need to be "finished," hand sanding and a bit of lacquer/epoxy sealer to give it the smooth finish you need for paint. Overall, the WG is 8" in diameter, which gives frequency control to around 1200Hz according to the plots we took. With crossover applied, we're getting a 1000Hz LR4 acoustic HP function.

This all stems from that thread, and this particular one had really easy to work with results.

The baffle would be 1" thick, with a disc on the back for the tweeter to mount to. The WG is 2" deep overall.

As a fellow Michigander this post made me smile. The Army has stuck me in El Paso, TX; which is about as different from Michigan as you can get. If I ever get home I'd love to see your work.

Can you make the cut for my silverflute too?
Where do you live Mr rose?

It would be nice considering the AC offset of the hr08w Pretty far back.
They will more than likely work with a number of different 28mm tweeters. Smaller one's will have a more difficult time. We'll be trying a couple different tweets here shortly, to pair with the Usher 8948A on Ed's baffle.

I think I might be confused about the type of waveguide to be included in the baffle. Is it round, elliptical,...? How deep? Is the baffle a stack of CNCed MDF or a single piece.

Questions for those interested. I have a 1" round-over. I could put that around the 10x17 baffles. I also have a 3/8ths round-over. Also, I'll sand down the baffles to 220 grit. Sound good? I'd like to get 4 guys to order before I pick up sheets of 1" plum creek MDF. Give me some feed-back, guys.

So this waveguide... it's a secret?

Another question to add to the list, ship to Canada? Might be expensive. I have a MN address if the difference is big.

As for this project. I'd be interested. I have a hard time comparing a $10 WG to a $37.50 WG/baffle. Can you post your results of this profile? And do you have results for any other tweeters, other than just the RS28? Thanks.
I'm sure they will be smooth or he would not bother.

I bought the 8" last November at idiy. Got the sb about the same time. Just waiting for a proper waveguide. Pete knows the one I want.

Can I ask about the roughness of the waveguide surface after machining?

It's not that $75 isn't a reasonable price - in fact, it's better than similar projects I've seen where people have offered waveguides in small quantities. I'm just saying, for some of us cheaper will mean affordable, and, we may want a different size baffle.

So, if anyone is willing to make and sell some of these as smaller squares (how wide is the waveguide part exactly again?) for us to integrate into our own baffles that would also be much appreciated.

I guess regardless, I would want to buy one pair of whatever is available soonest as I'd like to test a pair before school starts on the 21st.
