    Re: Anyone interested in a 10 x 17 baffle with W.G.

    [QUOTE=critofur;1776048]
It seems that the interface (the small/back end of the waveguide) between the waveguide & tweeter is quite important and I'm not sure what the criteria are for a good design.... But, it seems likely that given something to evaluate you might well suggest improved criteria and configurations.

I'm happy to take measurements, maybe willing to try other tweeters if requested, and, there are a few different woofers I have in mind/inventory that I would be happy to design a crossover for with the wg/tweeter combination:... that's fine do what you think makes sense, modify what I send to suit.

If you sent me a waveguide turned from a porous material...seal it as you find necessary. There is no need to return it.

Perhaps we can start with what I have on hand and can send in a day or so. Given your address, I'll put one in the mail this week. You can look it over and decide what you would suggest to improve it. It's a place to start and I'd be happy to consider suggestions for new turnings.

I don't know enough about the engineering/abstract criteria, but can presently, easily turn round waveguides producing a cross section that is an arc.

I am also a bit closer to waveguides milled to more exotic configurations on the CNC machine. I should know later this week if the tool path I generated for an elongated waveguide succeeds. If so, this will open up a much richer field of possibilities.

I look forward to your response and suggestions. tna

      thats great news!

        Re: Anyone interested in a 10 x 17 baffle with W.G.

Hey guys. Sorry for the horrible delay. Petes been trying to cover for me. I don't need to get too much into it, but I've just made it back from Arizona. I lost my mom, very unexpectedly, and its been tough.
I plan on bringing baffles with wave guides to the Chicago DIY. Who wants a set, and what size baffle? I was planning on a standard 10x17, but if someone needs something special, just drop me a note. I'll have to charge a little more for larger sizes. I am giving a set of 10x17s away as a door prize to make up for all the delay. Its gonna be a great show!!!

          That's very sad.

            D,
Sometimes words aren't enough but I'm sorry for your loss. If I'm not mistaken DIY Chicago is this weekend, I hope that it is a welcome break for you.

I sent a PM, when you get a chance please respond and we can go from there. As we have already discussed, I'm in no hurry due to my situation.
            Thanks,
            Aaron

When you get caught up with things I would take a pair 11" x 22".

Sorry about the unexpected loss of your Mother. Hope time is a source of healing for you and your family.

                  I'll jump in for Ed here . . .

Currently, he's up at the Rosenquist homestead in northern Michigan, trying to slay a Bambi or two.

I'm pretty sure he was going to be making a bunch of baffles when he got back later this week.

Ed's started turning out some baffles. Sent me this picture of Jonasz set cut for the SEAS W22.

I think the Usher 8948A is for sure, I have 4 of them here and it's a fantastic woofer. IMO it's the best sounding of all the Usher 7"ers, and every bit the equal of a Scan 18W Revelator.

Tweeter is a bit unsure at this point. We already have experience with the RS28F in this waveguide from the Aurora/MiniByzi build, and they work extremely well together. However, I personally want to try something else in that waveguide as a point of comparison. But if we try something else and it falls short of what the RS28F is giving us, we won't end up using it. I'm looking for equal (or better) but different, but staying under $100 per tweeter. One thing I'm considering is having some thin 1/16" or so phenolic rings CNC's to replace the faceplate on whatever tweeter we use. That would allow for a flush mounting instead of having to deal with a concave factory face plate, and would also push the dome slighty into the throat of the waveguide. I'm thinking the HDS would be an excellent candidate..
How about the brand new CSS LD25X XBL^2 tweeter?

Please pm me price plus ship to Canada. I'll take em. I'm working with tnallen to get a couple of his. I'll compare with the sb29 and report back. These are proven, so it would be cool to see. His is smaller I think too. Oh and I got the Dayton 8" to throw in the mix :D

Yes, 1" Plum Creek, a nicer version of regular MDF. Of course, the WG section is 2" thick.

How much would it cost for a pair of the RS28 waveguide alone without the woofer cutout?

                                Thanks!
