Here some pictures from "sdl2112" (..if that is really your name ;)):

    The whole thread is interesting:

Nice, but not as nice as the RS28, either version.

Can you post some f.r. comparisons of the Seas compared to the 2 Dayton RS's?

Since I already have one Seas H1212, I think I'll save some money and purchase another and skip the Daytons all together.

    Thanks...

I was able to get a decent result using the SEAS 27TBFC. The Hexagrid is exactly the right diameter to fit inside the opening. Very smooth to 15KHz on axis. But it has a flat flange allowing a really easy mounting and pretty good tweeter and guide interface.

If you were to sand down the back side of the guide until the opening matched that chamfer diameter, you might not have to give up the flange at all.

    Yeah, what Pete said.

I did a waveguide with the 6600 and it worked out pretty good. I did have some trouble with waveguide dip. I finally mounted the stock flange to the back of the baffle. The hole was large and I made the interface with polymer clay; it was feathered to the I.D. of the mounting plate. Here is a pic and graphs, you can see a slight dip remaining at 9khz.

I'd like to try a 1st order filter. Around 3000-3500 Hz.

Pete, do you think this is doable?

    Ed,
    Interested in a pair.
How much would it cost for a pair of the RS28 waveguide alone without the woofer cutout?

    Thanks!

Yes, 1" Plum Creek, a nicer version of regular MDF. Of course, the WG section is 2" thick.

Please pm me price plus ship to Canada. I'll take em. I'm working with tnallen to get a couple of his. I'll compare with the sb29 and report back. These are proven, so it would be cool to see. His is smaller I think too. Oh and I got the Dayton 8" to throw in the mix :D

I think the Usher 8948A is for sure, I have 4 of them here and it's a fantastic woofer. IMO it's the best sounding of all the Usher 7"ers, and every bit the equal of a Scan 18W Revelator.

Tweeter is a bit unsure at this point. We already have experience with the RS28F in this waveguide from the Aurora/MiniByzi build, and they work extremely well together. However, I personally want to try something else in that waveguide as a point of comparison. But if we try something else and it falls short of what the RS28F is giving us, we won't end up using it. I'm looking for equal (or better) but different, but staying under $100 per tweeter. One thing I'm considering is having some thin 1/16" or so phenolic rings CNC's to replace the faceplate on whatever tweeter we use. That would allow for a flush mounting instead of having to deal with a concave factory face plate, and would also push the dome slighty into the throat of the waveguide. I'm thinking the HDS would be an excellent candidate..
How about the brand new CSS LD25X XBL^2 tweeter?

Ed's started turning out some baffles. Sent me this picture of Jonasz set cut for the SEAS W22.
