What's the closest US equivalent to the "Dedshete" bitumenous dampers that they damp thin-wall speaker panels with in the UK?

Roofing felt is similar, but you get some inconsistency with it. Look up mass loaded vinyl. Aurelex sells it. Quite a bit more expensive!

This is not the same material.
I think it is worth considering the use of vinyl composition tile as a damping material. It is mineral loaded (sound familiar?). Commercial grades are ~50% thicker, heavier than residential grade.
I use it because I'm a tight wad, and it performs as well. ;)Mongo only pawn in game of life

You mean flooring?
