    That Vifa looks tasty for a cheap midrange.

    Where? Last update to his blog was 10/30, and I don't see anything new in the testing areas.

          I find hitting F5 when his blog loads will often surprise me. Not too many pages I visit require that, his and mine lol.

          That Vifa does look like a superb midrange performer, probably a solid candidate for a low order crossover.
          Don't listen to me - I have not sold any $150,000 speakers.

            Hi Dan,

            I used an OEM, 16 ohm buyout version of this Vifa driver as the midrange in my Contrappeso's, 4 per side in parallel. They are indeed fine sounding and performing drivers, inexpensive and very easy to work with.

              I thought they looked familiar. I saw (and heard) your Contrappeso's at InDIYana this year. The midrange in that design was clean and particularly well balanced, which at the time I attributed to your skill in extracting every bit of performance from a lousy buyout driver. Now I know it was really just a great driver to begin with.:D

                  This is an opportune post from Zaph. I have a pair of the Vifas along with its fiberglass cousin on the way.

                  But why are some of the really nice drivers not round?

                      Probably because they were manufactured with a particular customer in mind, who wanted a different flange just to distinguish themselves?
