        Nor add room treatment.

But at $100k, they must have some an active tuning algorithm to compensate for the room.

wow. Quarter million $$$ in stereo reproduction in a room the size of my bathroom.

I guess I am jealous that his stereo cost nearly as much as my entire house.

In my neck of the woods, you could buy a small house for what his turntable (the Walker that he reviewed and gave a top award) set him back. Gut the little house and transform it into one big listening room. Yeah...I know he didn't pay retail for that turntable. The overwhelmingly positive review likley commanded a hefty discount! ;)

People pay $250,000 for fancy cars that can be outperformed by $20,000 DIY hot rods.

People pay $5,000 for shotguns that do not kill pheasants any deader than a $300 870.

People pay $500,000 for houses that can be had for 1/2 that with some sweat equity.

People pay for all kinds of things that can be DIY'ed for the same or better performance, or things that cannot do anything a much less expensive counterpart can do. It leads me to believe they are as concerned with outward appearance as they are with actual performance. To each their own, I do not resent their spending money. I do, however, reserve the right to ridicule that expenditure if I feel they could have done better.
Don't listen to me - I have not sold any $150,000 speakers.

That equipment in that room is like putting $2000.00 rims on a Yugo.

Isn't that ceramic dog totally throwing off the acoustics in that room? I sure hope he has gold plated outlets or it's all a waste.

Does he have to sit in a bar stool for optimal listening position?

                          Question:

If you made $1 million to $50 million per year, how much would you spend on stereo stuff? Would you really care if it cost 100K if you thought the sound was the best you had ever heard and you thought it made you happy. More people make that kind of money than you think, and these companies do not sell that many units per year of this stuff.
Is a Lexus sports car worth $350,000 when the speed limit is 65?
Depends on how much you make and what you want, I guess.
On the other hand, hard for me to think I would need more than 30K or so to max out on my stereo dream system.
But I have a kid in college, so there go my Wilson speakers, McIntosh amp and preamp, mega CD player and high-end turn table. Turned into tuition instead.
                          Let the MDF dust fly!
(I am finishing up a Hypex home made amp that will cost me $500 or so in new and used parts and will = an off the shelf amp that sells for $2,000). That kind of makes me feel good. Good bargain plus rewarding sweat equity and the sense of making it one's self. Like tying your own flies for trout fishing. Just makes it all seem a bit better and authentic.

I am all for every range of speaker and budgets.... however I think at some point the law of diminishing returns becomes nearly un-measurable. However I do have an older pair of mini advents that I would be willing to part with for only $122,000........... the 22,000 is for my time in breaking them in for the purchaser. Using only appropriate music of course.
