I'm in Brooklyn. I'm already planning to take off Friday, could swing Thursday too. This'll be a lot more fun than my current agenda (putting up ceiling tiles in my bathroom!)

            I do.
Let Jeff and Phil listen to them and see if it needs to be tweaked.
Give it a couple more days before I post it. There are also couple of other "improvements" I am trying.
BTW stock DX25 is out of "stock" till 19th of January.

                Re: Sony buyout project

It was a busy Christmas week for me -- didn't have time to think much about this project, but today I finalized plans for what I think I'm going to do. According to my calculations, derived from my drawings, the tweeter could be conventionally flush mounted in the original location you specified. That would avoid the need to cut a wave guide. It looks like the face plate can be trimmed with the router during the round over process for the main drivers. To do that, I'll have to orient the tweeter so that the mounting screws are arranged along horizontal and vertical center lines, away from where the round-over will be. If you get time, let me know what you think...

Here's the drawing showing my understanding of your design, and what I plan to do with the tweeter.

                Thanks...
                Ron

Phil, any time after 10 works for me on Fri.

Ron, drawing looks good. Only mistake I see is that DX25 has 5 mounting holes on the faceplate. You'd have to orient it slightly different. No big deal tho. Take a look

I spend a couple of hours listening today. It doesn't sound as if the crossover needs to be changed after waveguide was cut. Will check tomorrow morning.
Also, on the Top View it looks like the woofer is surface mounted from the front.

I would love for ErinH to test the suspension on the Sony. ............Preaty pleas))))

Thanks for the compliment -- the programs I use are not freeware, but they're not expensive either. I actually use two programs when I need the drawing to be to scale, or precise. The first is an old CAD program which produces vector graphics drawings in the common DXF file format. If I need to convert the drawing into a bitmapped file (such as the JPEG above) I import the file into another program I've had for years by Micrografx. It's very much like Corel Draw. This type of program is intended for illustrators and has a lot of features not needed in mechanical drafting programs. I need to upgrade, but I've been putting it off for quite a while because of the learning curve...

If you're looking for an inexpensive program to produce your own drawings (a very handy way to communicate) you can find deals on the Internet for a program called "TurboCAD." If you're willing to accept earlier versions, you can find them for as little as $15. I'll be switching to it pretty soon...

Someone send me one and I'll be happy to.

But, like I warn everyone... you'll have to understand that it's possible I'll kill it. So far, I've not had that issue. But it is a possibility.

If anyone is down, I'll have to ask you to cover shipping (or maybe folks here could shoot a couple bucks my way to cover it) as well. Not to be greedy, but it just costs me too much to cover it myself every time I test something so I just put that out there up front.

If all of that is cool, shoot me a PM and I'll give you my address and/or paypal info for shipping. :D
