Well there goes half my list.

4.) The monitors must have a woofer/mid-woofer of 6", or greater. No 4", 5", etc. anemic drivers.
So qualifying speakers must likely have meh horizontal polars

5.) Must be priced between $300-$3000, retail prices. Anything over $3000 becomes ridiculous to 95% of potential customers.
And there went the rest of my list.

9.) No speakers from companies with an Asian origin.
So where d'ya think dynaudio/revel/kef source driver parts from?

    10.) No active/powered monitors.
If there was anything left on my list, it's gone.

(NOTE: All speakers can be improved by replacing all capacitors with Sonicaps, replacing all inductors with Jantzen 15AWG air cores, replacing all resistors with Mills MRA12s, adding Dynamat, replacing/adding the damping material with Parts Express' self adhesive 1/2" grey foam, replacing all wiring with silver plated, Teflon insulated 14AWG wire, which can be bought on eBay.)
    Oh really!??!

(loses a point here due to front firing ports being superior).
    I see.
:blues: Flat frequency response, a smooth sound power response free of resonance, careful driver-integration, and high dynamic range both upward and downward :blues:

Well duh, you're forgetting the Teflon insulated wire and changing out resistors, and using Janzen inductors - you can't get to perfection without that. But sure, once you do all that perfection should be close......

Yeah- but I wouldn't pick Sonicaps for everything in the circuit either.

To all who said that this post is "Spam," that's laughable. So I work for a half a dozen different companies then?

To clarify a couple of things. By Asian origin, I meant that the company would have to have been conceived by an Asian country. This excludes British companies like KEF, even though their drivers, cabinets, etc. are clearly made in China.

I just made this list for fun, no need to be offensive :( I actually strongly believe in proper DIY. Designs like Zaph's SR71 are as good, or even better than the very best speakers on that list. At a fraction of the cost. And this is just one example out of hundreds. DIY can be very rewarding

I had fun with the list and primarily wanted to get opinions and put together some sort of a reference point of what's out there on the market currently. At reasonable prices. Once a proper list is made, it makes it fun to compare to what's available as DIY.

OK, but there's a good chance that the Usher Dancer is a better speaker than most or possibly any of the speakers on your list. So why shouldn't it be included in the discussion, apart from a bias against Asian speakers?

Re: Top 20 Commercial Monitor Speakers in the World!!!

You're right, the primary reason is 100% bias. I'd rather see these Asian companies die a slow death. But if all of you feel strongly enough, I can include the Usher Dancer series of speakers on the list. One other concern is that they're kind of rare in the States. Where would one buy them from? The distributor listed is nonsense and they don't even have a proper website. So it seems like a very small operation...

On paper, the Dancer Be-718 and Be-718 Diamond DMD look excellent.

                    Here are some measurements: http://www.soundstagenetwork.com/mea...eraudio_be718/

Sidebar 3: Measurements The Usher Be-718 was both less sensitive than average and less sensitive than specified, at an estimated 85dB(B)/2.83V/m. Offsetting the speaker's need for voltage, however, is an impedance modulus that remains above 6 ohms throughout the bass and midrange, and drops below 6 ohms only briefly in the treble (fig.1). Only a combination of 5.7 ohms magnitude and –41° electrical phase angle at 2.5kHz keeps the Usher from being rated an easy load for the partnering amplifier to drive.

Pretty much good to excellent across the board Prices are $2800pr. and $3000pr. respectively.

The other Usher speaker that would qualify then is the X-718 at $1300pr.

Nah man, it is your list your rules. Just like it is our judgement that both are a little silly, but hell I like to think about what I would look like as a dragon sometimes so I'm certainly not going to judge you. Rankings are fun (and mostly pointless), and I would rather rank commercial designs than DIY, because those actually have love put into them.

P.S. it is totally awesome that you work for 12 different companies...I hear that happens a lot in Utah

P.P.S. If I was a dragon I would totally have long luxurious fur.

Probably not on your face or chest! Fire danger!

A knot of hair on your head would just be silly. Big green scales that rattle when you move would be awesome though. :D

Hair all over, like the never ending story. AND Flaming hairballs! Sort of like napalm, but grosser. I am over scales. They might look good on paper, but I bet they sound tinny in person.

I would totally look cooler than him, but yeah I think that is on the right track (with the exception of the floppy ears which would be terrible for aerodynamics).
