I loved that movie as a kid! The second and third ones were kinda weird or cheesy.

      Later,

The second one is in the book, the third one is not. still my favorite movie.

Which ones? There are more than one listed. Also do you want it in dollars or in Dragon's gold

I'll put the Aurora up against any of those listed. And I have the data to back up the claim. ;)

On axis in room. Distortion includes room effects. Close mic stays below 1% to below 70Hz at over 93dB @ 1m

the idea of this thread is silly. Best, based on what?
Pete, why are you bringing up the data then you don't listen to the squiggles? :D

The Aurora looks great! Are you running a production of it? What is the cost for the pair?

Yes, in production, $2695/pr. at Vaporsound.com

I've got the first one off the line in my living room. :D

And to r-carpenter, he asked for data, that's why. ;)

                          Me like too!!! :D

It's actually the Vifa NE225. The cone does look like the Satori. Really unique cone design, and from what I understand, the machine to make that cone costs in the neighborhood of $10M.

The tweeter is the Dayton Reference RS28F (or RS28A).

If that is true, Peerless must be planning on selling a metric sh!t-ton of those drivers. The very high-tech firm I worked for spent a minimum $5M per line, and that included all custom machinery, designed in-house, built in-house etc. The equipment was capable of 1/50 millionth of an inch repeatability on forming and welding stainless parts, contained massive robotic systems, a lot of custom software, vision systems, etc.

They had to hit a five year RoI, or it was a no-go. My current company demands a two year RoI on any cap-ex projects.

All of which makes me wonder what else they are building on this machine, or if Peerless has dumped a lot of eggs in one basket. $10M buys some serious hardware.
Don't listen to me - I have not sold any $150,000 speakers.

That figure came from Pers Skaaning. He mentioned that fashioning poly cones to that shape didn't take much of a machine (only 5 figures), but that for the wood pulp and fiber cones, the machines were in the range of $10M. They're suggesting $200+ per NE driver . . .

And the drivers they build right, are amazing.
