Maybe it is because most of us here are so similar (at least for our interest in DIY speakers, electronics, wood working, and audio stuff) that the women we all married tend to be so similar to each other. My wife carries a perfectly functional black no name purse. It seems to me that she could care less about bling bling purses or shoes. The more comfortable and functional the better! I'm not saying she has no style... she just doesn't get off on having the latest blah blah designer hype.

Heh, Vera Bradley is NOT an expensive bag, by just about any measure...out here, the big name is Dooney and Bourke, starting around 200 bucks or so. My wife has no interest in them (at least that's what she claims:D), and my ex-wife was crazy for 'em. Go figure....;)

Oh, and yes, my wife and I both agree, those VB bags are ugly with a capital UGLY.

    More information....

I sent out an e-mail with those on the list I've had before from my contacts with information pertaining to making a room reservation. IF you are not on this e-mail list and did not get a message pertaining to how to make a reservation, please PM me here, or send a query to the e-mail address on the InDIYana website.

Of note- you will have until March 13th to make a reservation for one of the 20 rooms I have asked to be set aside, and then the remaining rooms if any will become NLA for the 'group' rate and reservations. The rate for us will be $119/night.

I know a lot of you like to split room costs and share a room, so hopefully this numbr is not seen as too low. I looked at the attendees from last year, who stayed at the Hyatt, who split rooms, who had single arrangements, and added 5 rooms on top of that total to come up with 20.

DanP- I'll send you a PM, as I know you want one...

So- the arrangements are pretty much set in stone as for when, where, what, and how. The Who is to be determined! :D

Would it behoove us to reserve now, then "change" the reservation to the group deal when it gets set up? I wonder if that's even possible.

I don't know if a transfer would be an option, but something tells me no.

I am in Chicagoland, but last year we checked out a hotel in Shipshe on the same weekend as InDIYana '11.......I was tempted to go the extra hour and drop in!

So this year I am considering staying a night in Shipshe and let my wife spend a day there if she isn't interested in 8 hours of speakerbuilders:p

I hope the bag ladies convention doesn't spill over to Shipshe and raise the lodging price there, too! :D

I got over there today but unfortunately it wasn't until about 4:45 and he's only there til 5. He showed me around and showed me some of the speakers he's working on. I wanted to take a pic of these 3 ways he's building so I could show em here but didn't want to be weird (er). He said he'd call me when he got em done and I could come and listen. The xovers are insane! He's also got me torn between the Swopes and the Zaph 5.3c again. Tough decision!

He also said he's going to the InDIYana event and also asked if your name (Wolf) is Ben??
Yes- that's me. Mark and I converse quite often, and Joel is just really cool to hang around.

I think the Swope and 5.3C are in different classes- it's like Apples/oranges. I like the Swopes, and have heard them.

As to the event- no alcohol is permitted. They have a 'no party' rule.

The group rate is less than that, Maynard. The $159 is the regular price for that weekend if not in the group.
