Is there a formula for calculating the distance between drivers based on the crossover point?

1 wavelength CTC is desirable, but if the drivers are vertically aligned not mandatory, as any lobing/combing will be on the vertical plane. Just keep them as close as possible. If the drivers are horizontally aligned the CTC distance is critical, as lobing/combing will be on the horizontal plane. But you should try to avoid horizontal placement anyway, as it reduces horizontal dispersion.

No formula. Should be as close as possible.

You could model them and see what the lobes look like, though.
