  • Help Identify Damping Foam

Does anyone here know any information at all regarding this type of foam? Please see the picture below. It's very similar to the more expensive Sonic Barrier as it has the hard base (with adhesive), 0.75" foam, but is covered with a very thin plastic film. Its very soft, like vinyl.

Woud this type if foam work for loudspeaker damping? What about subwoofers? Where can it be bought? Thanks

Polyproplylene foam. Used in camera, audio gear cases, etc. available from most upholstery shops as seat padding for up-scale cars or for boat/semi seats or aircraft seats (won't support combustion or choke you to death on it's fumes). Just ask for "grey foam". Comes flat, egg-crate and semi-egg-crate. It's about 4 times as high a sq ft. as white urethane foam of the same thickness. It's available in a flameproof version too, $$$$$. Spray it with borax and water...let dry.
