  • Alien Tech Speaker Design! Some next level s**t!

So a while back I discovered this guy Marko Rodin. He has made some incredible discoveries regarding the fundamental power of creation. I won't try to describe it to you myself, but I will say I'm convinced that what he's discovered has the potential to change every existing technology and our perspective on the universe. From his discoveries sprung an invention, a coil. I again, am not going to try to describe it, but it's definitely worth taking a look into. I wanted to share a few videos, I'm pretty sure you will at least get a kick out of it.

Here is one guy's prototype of a modified version of the coil he uses with a disassembled 15" speaker:
Rodin starship coil Speaker (TEST1)Check out more here: http://www.markorodin.com/The math involved in the coil design is amazing!!! READ IT!!! You mush unde...

This one is closer to the original design, and shows the actual vibration pretty well:

This is just to illustrate some of the unprecedented properties of the updated coil design:
Followup to last video, shows that the spin resonance works on the the Neoball some distance away from the coil with the power off. No perpetual motion her...

And finally, this is how I found him and began learning about all this in the first place:
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Have fun, there's a lot to be explored here!

I had actually thought about a speaker coil similar to that. At least one mounted to the back of a cone in a similar fashion. But nowhere near as complex as that. And I have absolutely no math skills except when it comes to money. I am going to have to watch all the hairy guys vids now.

Looks like in the second video, it's just a super-intense Inductive field. Like the new Power pads, that you can set your electronics on and charge them.

Basically it uses an inductor as an antenna to send electricity over a certain frequency between 2 points (inductors)

Isn't it more efficient to simply wrap the wire around a voice coil and attach that to a cone?
Isn't it about time we started answering rhetorical questions?

At first I was like...wtf...and then I listened to it like four more times. And now and I am like...wtf.

As for the Rodin coil, I think it has something to do with incredibly strong resonant vibrations that are more localized than most coils (although seemingly similar to other toroidal coils, of which this is just the one with the most acute angle). In the end that might actually not be the best thing for a speaker design...but I am totally out of my depth here. Back to the music videos.

LOL! I've listened to Die Antwoord before, but never seen the video. Are they really that bad or is it a parody? I can't tell.

The difference of the Starship coil is the shape of the magnetic field. I watched several other vids, and one by hhoforvolts used a magnetic paper to demonstrate the field shape. The standard Rodin produces a doughnut shaped field, while the Starship produces a column that is perpendicular to the coil.

If you remember your high-school physics, the 'right hand rule' defines the net effect due to the current flow. A circular wound coil produces a magnetic field perpendicular to the current flow which is similar to the Rodin. The field strength of the Starship is probably significantly stronger (based on the comparisons to the Rodin). Also, the Starship has a very low current draw the strength is dependent on voltage. IOW, you can pass massive amounts of volts through the coil and the current will remain fixed. In addition, the strength of the field from a Starship is not diameter dependent. You just make the center large enough to fit around the magnet, which needs to be in the center.

Now, a Starship coil is significantly more wire than a circular voice-coil, and thus more mass, not to mention you need something to hold it's shape. Most voice-coils are very small but are on a former to keep it's shape.

As a voice-coil, the Starship wouldn't work for a tweeter unless you affixed the magnet to the diaphragm (which could be lighter than the coil.) For a woofer, it might be interesting to see how it would measure.

                        This is patently false.

Even the Rodin DC current draw is defined by the series resistance of the coil. Up the voltage, and current increases too.

I built one of these and played around with it a little bit and did get it to work as a "speaker". It was really just the coil and a neodymium magnet, there was no diaphragm. For the amount of power I put into it I was getting a LOT of vibration. It was well wound but, not with many winds. These are really just showing that it has potential they are the very first step. I do believe it holds a lot of potential if engineered properly. If you watch the first few videos of his lecture (the last link), You will begin to see how his math works and it is very very interesting. It proves itself to be true, but it is so far from what we're used to, most people never really continue to learn about it. I want to get back into this and create something revolutionary. I just wish more people would get on board with it, his lectures are VERY slow paced but it works well for me, I actually like how he goes on a lot of tangents. Also remember, this is not specifically for speakers, it can be applied to virtually anything. Just listen to his lectures, once it clicks, youll be mindblown :P

It seems like you might be able to put a neo magnet behind and in front of the coil and have a very linear motor.
