My goodness, with a miniDSP and 4 channels of amplification, you're probably looking at $2500 at least ...
    I am trolling you.

so, would (2) two channel amps meet the requirements? the wording in the ad is a bit off... but what else would make sense.

Call it a lot of money, call it worth it in my eyes!

I saw that, and just read 50 or so pages of the assembly instructions. It doesn't look overly complicated to assemble, the banks of 4 tweeters helps a lot.
It's not a kit for the short-of-attention though, and lots of testing throughout.

I wonder if PE will have a set up for listening at the DIY Dayton 2012?
        Sorry, Midwest Audio Fest.

They gonna make the tweeters available to DIY?
Don't listen to me - I have not sold any $150,000 speakers.

To be fair, I think the design uses some power tapering to get it that low. I dunno, I have too much of a popcorn brain to read through the white papers on it I hear adderal is good for... oooh! A kitty!

Not just using 1 of them. These use 72 per speaker, each one is putting out so little that it would probably be hard to strain them.

I remember reading the paper where they compared them with the BW 801s. They seem incredible impressive and versatile on paper. I really look forward to your review of them.

Who knows, maybe I can convince my fiance that they would look awesome in my office? 2k? "No problem...I mean sure I would need to build a sub for it and buy 4 new amplifiers too, but I mean...you love me right?"

Four channels of amplification. It could be two stereo amps, four mono-blocks, or a multi-channel amp / receiver.

While the kit cost seems high, there are other DIY offerings that cost significantly more. Consider Linkwitz' Orions where just the drivers cost over $2300, and then you need six channels of robust amplification, and the cost of the active electronics, etc.

I'd love to hear the CBT36 because of the clever thinking behind the concept. I understand that they aren't going to be everyone's cup of tea though.

The power tapering is only to shape the vertical beamwidth. The tweeter has a very soft suspension in order to lower the Fs.

So has anyone heard these things? I do agree they're super cool looking and the theory makes sense to me, but how do they sound? How do they test? Seems pretty pricy, but I can't discount that it might be worth it. Hate to have to pay for a sub after spending so much coin on all those speakers. I would have thought they might have made it a 3-way with a sub in the bottom, but perhaps that goes against the theory of a line array.
