Man, I am so behind schedule. Life has gotten in the way a lot, and measurements this weekend did not go well. :( Not enough time to go back to the drawing board. I may also have to accept that I'll get last place in the visual voting, unless the raw grain pattern of MDF somehow gets a lot of hype in the next few weeks.

Man does not live by measurements alone, a little music helps.

The boxes are done and veneered. I'll be getting home from a long vacation tomorrow night and will have to get cracking to get done in time.

beef brisket is killer. 1 foot high pieces of cake.

You will kind of drive past this on the way to Brooklyn.

It is about 45-60 mins from the navy yards.

I went to a communion party at the place below:

food was good. it is in staten Island close to the brooklyn navy yards maybe 30- 40 minutes away.

even though I am a native New Yorker I never used a brooklyn Hotel.

I need to put just a few finishing touches on mine and one is off to roman for measurement. Don't worry if they are raw MDF, I cannot imagine anyone giving you 1's or zeros. Maybe a ding, but a solid and decent cabint still deserves a decent score IMHO. However that is just one opinion :/

Quite a few last min. wrap-ups! I will be sending an e-mail around music in the next day or two. Whatever the selection is it will remain unknown (even to me and roman) until the day of the competition. I may bring my video camera and record it... I just have so much to manage now and there will be so much going on, I am unsure it can be managed well.

I'll have one of my friends coming be a photographer, I don't know about video, but pictures will be nice.

I just have to dampen one cabinet, paint the other, attach the baffles, and touch them up. I'm pretty close, just trying to dodge these rainy days when I'm not working. Glad to hear I won't be the only one with an aesthetically imperfect pair :P I think they're pretty, but I've seen better.

Listening will be blind, so all pictures can be taken after the session.

Who was going to provide acoustic fabric for the screen BTW? I should start making it too.

Some progress has been made. Trying to decide on veneer choices. 90% humidity and 95 degrees really sucks though. Maybe my better half will let me lay some tarp down in the spare bedroom and do the finishing inside...

Second that emotion - my workshops are the front deck, assuming calm winds on the Outer Banks (Yeah, right!) or in the front room. So veneer is usually PSA to eliminate the overwhelming swoon that accompanies contact cement, and finishing with Waterlox or anything else is tough. The saving grace is that air conditioning lowers the humidity to speed up cure times, and the wife tends to find other places to go when I am finishing.

Oh, anybody need any finishing done?
