I do see small variances in the specs, but the price difference is anything but slight.

I had real sticker shock when I was looking for the driver to build the Cerebus sub as a compliment to the Microbes I built six years ago!

    Thanks,

I've seen "specs" for both the "Neo" (SI) and "Ferrite" (SIF) that match each other. I don't believe that actual measured T/S values for the SI matched its specs too closely, so how bad can the SIF be? AFAIK, others have swapped them out successfully.

They've stabilized. I got these years ago for $27. Not a whole lot of markup now, but they were much higher during the neodymium gold rush.

These used to be $26 too. A little higher, but not bend over prices. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=264-844

I can't imagine too many neodymium drivers moved when the prices were off the scale.

TB added ferrite versions of most of their neos. Are you sure those aren't what you saw?

    Tang Band Prices

Maybe I'm remembering this wrong, but didn't the Tang Band neo drivers quadruple in price not too long ago? I just checked out a bunch of their full-range drivers and they seem to be back to "normal".
