  • Refinishing an old pair of speakers

    These are Realistic Optimus T-70. I don't have any photos of when I got them, I found them on Kijiji for cheap, they were in pretty rough shape. Real walnut veneer, I just sanded them and am refinishing with Circa 1850 Tung Oil.

    Here's after the second coat, still a bit dull looking:

    Here's after the 3rd coat, still wet. Has a nice shine to it. I never expected these to start looking so nice with such a simple process.

      Nice job, I love doing this I look around craigslist for vintage speakers then I re cap them fix up the cabs. I have a hard time letting them go

        It will definitely be hard letting these go, but I think they will be gifted away when they're done. These are getting a bit more than a recap. The woofers had foam surround that had turned to dust, so am dropping in an 8" Silver flute which fits the cabinet nicely, and a redesigned crossover around that.
