Maybe they just aren't pricing their PR's correctly. Since there don't seem to be a lot of other options for getting PR's with these particular characteristics, you would think the market would be willing to absorb a higher purchase price to ensure the product remains available and worthwhile to manufacture.

Anybody watch the TV show "The Profit"? We need to get Marcus over to these guys and get their operation humming!

I'd bet you could use the CSS PRs for this design without issue.

Yeah but they're pretty ugly with the weights on the outside like that.

Might be ugly, but 1) much easier to tune and 2) man do they work!

Wow, took 3-4 days before I could reply to a thread after signing up.

Anyway, I read this whole thread and decided to build 2 Digger 8s for my art room. I did not see any measurements. Did anyone happen to do any?

Here is what I went with:
            (2) Infinity Ref 860w 8" subs
            (2) Bash 300s 300w amps
            (2) Creative Sound Solutions APR12s 12" passive radiators

My other question, does anyone know how much weight I naiad for the CSS passive Radiators for this setup?

            Thanks in advance.

Not to be a downer, but the apr10 would be more than sufficient.

                Downer! lol

That kinda sucks. So, let me ask. With the APR12 and changing the box to .75cuft, would I still be able to get down to 25hz or so?

I'm sure it will but without modeling I can't say for sure.

The digger 8's are pretty awesome. I would recommend the AR PR, that is what I went with in the end. But you could contact JSR and see what he thought about the PR you are wanting to use. Perhaps he would model it for you...

I am guessing you ment AE passive radiators. Actully i contacted them right away. They are somewhat local. They said they would put me on a waiting list. I have also heard horror stories about waiting 2-9 months.

I went with the CSS PR more excursion then the dayton and didn't want to wait for AE.

I'll probably just stick to 1cuft and play with the weights and do some measurements.

I recently contacted AE about buying the PR for this project and they are currently producing some and was told it would take about a week to ship. I ordered one. My question is that I am building this for use in a vehicle so an amplifier will not be installed in the cabinet. Do I need to adjust the enclosure dimensions to account for this or should I just build it with the original dimensions of 9 X 14 X 20? Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

I am assuming this gentleman is AE Speaker... He posted in another Digger8 thread recently

The Bash plate a amp doesn't have a back enclosure, so I doubt it takes up enough volume to worry about if you leave it out.

So you would use the original enclosure measurements for best performance?
