XO Help on Classix II

Re: XO Help on Classix II
Kev - It's a bit hard to see what your connections are but I can see one problem for sure. Your inductor leads have varnish on them in some of your connections. Use sandpaper to get them down to bare copper.
One thing to remember is that all negatives can be common on your x-over board ( neg is neg ).
You should study Paul's schematic a bit closer or have a buddy who know's electronics help you.

Also remember that you need 2 positive leads leaving the board to your drivers ( and the tweet is wired in reverse polarity ). The neg leads coming off the drivers can connect at the same point on the board.
On the woofer side you have the 100uF cap and the 10ohm resistor flipped.

Re: XO Help on Classix II
I just zip tied them to the board and connected them like in the picture. I know I have to take down insulation before I solder them. I just need to know where everything connects at. I have never been very good at reading schematics.

Re: XO Help on Classix II
I guess I am not asking correctly...
Where do I connect the positive for the woofer and tweeter? And how should I connect the negative to both drivers? Also when you say the flip flop the 100uf and 10 ohm do you mean to change locations on the board? Sorry bro I am not very good at this.

Re: XO Help on Classix II
OK Kev - My bad, I think it's all good the way you have it if you followed that schematic. The black dot on the far left side is where you connect the red from the speaker terminal / amp. The one on the upper left goes to the positive on your woofer. Lower right goes to the negative on your tweet (because it is meant to wired in reverse polarity ). Upper right can be the common negative spot to run the neg from the speaker terminal / amp and the two that come off the drivers.
Paul's schematic differs from yours but it will function the same. Did yours come from Meniscus Audio?

Re: XO Help on Classix II
Yes it sure did. I thought it was really cool they put stickers with the layout on them with two boards to build the xo on. I already had the peg board and a bunch of zip ties. I just used their layout on my board.
Thanks a million,
Kevin

183 and 620. We almost bought a house in shadowglen until our loan officer dropped the ball and messed up the deal. Email me if you have some time. It would be nice to meet another DIYer in the area.

Below are some pics of the cabinets we are putting together now.
As you can see we opted to build the front port Classix II's. They are made from 3/4 voidless oak ply.

Takitaj is the one who created the flat pack for us. He should get most of the credit for such a nice cabinet. :D
