I don't know yet? Will test them and try as many different designs I can think of. The only thing I've done is a MTM for "Iron Driver". The sky's the limit.Kenny

Wish I had the funds to pull the trigger on the aurasound drivers now... Wonder how these would work with the budget line array idea...HAGD,

Re: $1 aurasound drivers in an array?
As much as I don't need them, I almost want to pull the trigger on a case of those Auras. Ya'll have got the wheels turning in my head. A flat panel, dipole array about 5 1/2 feet tall would be pretty cool. I need another project like I need another hole in my head though, but I guess having an inventory for a rainy day isn't that bad.

I'm right there with you bolland! I have more inventory than I have time.... but the way I look at it $50 plus shipping is a WHOLE LOT cheaper than 4 hours for a baby sitter and a nice dinner and movie with my wife. And the drivers/projects/enjoyment last a lot longer than 4 hours. Sadly I still haven't figured out how to sell that fact to my better half :DCraig
I drive way too fast to worry about cholesterol.

When I typed that I hope you guys realize I'm half serious and half joking. I love spending time with my wife and kids... but speaker cost does last longerBaby sitters are expensive these days

Re: $1 aurasound drivers in an array?
Probably would be a good time to start modeling and figuring out the concept. I would guess there are two possibilities.
One would be a center mounted tweeter. I'd recommend something like Dayton RS28 or Seas TDFC. Both can handle lots of power and can be crossed fairly low which will allow for a taller array. If someone wants to play with the waveguide to amp lower range of the tweeter mechanically, it would be interesting too.
Center mounted tweeter will not create the full blown Array imaging but will get you there(high degree of realism) in the listening spot.
A line of tweeters is a better solution with respect to power handling and imaging. Problem with the line of tweeters is that the inexpensive tweeters are not going to go low enough and ribbons that can go low enough or conventional tweeters will make the array quite pricy. So, it's something to consider perhaps for the second "IT" build if the array will tickle you enough.
Another recommendation is not to try to push Aura very low. It's really not designed to be a subwoofer. ;) So look at the build as this window that will let you dive in to the music but plan on adding low end later (or may be now?)
Woofer housing can also serve as a stand for the line and help to bring up the tweeter (in case of single centered in the array) to the ear level.

$1 aurasound drivers in an array? They're here!!!
I got my box-o-speakers today:D. So now I can start thinking hard of how I want to do this. I think I'll go somewhere around 65 inches, give or take. Once I start routing the wholes, I might decide shorter is better;). The widest part of the frame is just under 3.25 inches, which would be 20 drivers if I mounted them closely together. And that's leaving no spot for a tweeter, if I decide to mount a tweeter between some of the drivers. I have a Beston RT002A that I'm thinking about using. To you designers, does that look like it will work well? Beston RT002A
And if I've understood correctly, these should work well in an open baffle arrangement, correct? I would give some sort of sides to the baffle for strength. How critical is the depth of the sides and what effects are caused by a shallow vs deep side?
I'll rear mount these and round-over the forward edge of the driver hole.
Does it sound like I'm heading in the right direction?
Thanks for help, suggestions, advice, and constructive criticisms.
Mike

Re: $1 aurasound drivers in an array? They're here!!!
The sensitivity looks good but I’d be a bit concerned about the vertical axis response and the low FR. Hopefully someone has measured.
IMO considering HF drop off mentioned previously it might be best to consider multiple tweeters and “notch” down the response to get the low FR needed to match the Auras.
Of course other tweeters with extended low FR would work as well.
Are you going to have the ability to meassure these?
PS the 3 1/8 hole saw (79 mm) from Bosch sounds easier to me.
