It's very typical to try to shoot for 3 octaves coverage for the mid on a 3-way. So your Seas will run from 175Hz to 1.4k? Is that a 6" driver?
C-C between a 6" and any "normal" 4" tweeter would be about 5", allowing an Fc around 2.7kHz.
A 6" cone shouldn't suffer from beaming at 2k, possibly good even up to 2.5k. So . . . what are your issues? If the Seas has a problem at 1.5k, I'd say it's not meant to work well as a mid.

And I really like the fact they play low in a seal box!
If the SPL requirements aren't to wild I'd say maybe the SB29RDCN-0004. It's about 75mm diameter and can take a beating. And if you did decide to use a waveguide later, it does well in quite a few waveguides and can cross around 1khz with one.
This isn't a bad idea in my opinion. There will most defineatly be tweeter flare issues if you were to cross up around 2.5khz with a flush dome. They might not be a big deal, but if you're trying for uniform polar response I think a sub-2khz cross over is mandatory.
