Jeff, any chance you would ever consider an 8" 2.5 way TMM in the from of a small tower keeping the same 9 1/2" baffle width? It wouldn't take up any more floor space than the 8" 2 way on a stand but the performance might be closer to that of the 12" 2 ways.

just thinking aloud here, but an 8" 2.5 way using professional high sensitivity drivers most likely won't dig very low due to the driver's design...go with an 8" sub (or even 10-12" side firing) to anchor the bottom of your 2.5 way, and you'll have a big sensitivity discrepancy between the bottom end and the top end....also, you may get some expensive crossover parts as you try roll the .5 woofer off in the sub 300hz range...

is take one of the 8" designs here, and develop a tower version, with an additional 1.25-2.25 cubic foot of volume (while maintaining the original speaker's baffle width) that would incorporate the hardware from one of Eric's subwoofer kits, and side fire the sub.....make the bottom end with the subwoofer amp, and use the subwoofer amp's active crossover to cross to the top end, much like the recent Polk LSi9's or the older Acoustic Research 315HO's and AR3 and AR1 Hi Res...

Ryan - Yes, it is the Beta 8-A - a pretty stout 8" driver.
      How about the BetaWave-8?

I was thinking more about aesthetics with the 10" waveguide.

I just saw that Erich has more baffles posted now: http://www.diysoundgroup.com/speaker-baffles.html I wonder if he has flat packs for all of them?

I would love to have one of the 12" woofer kits in a tower as the LR mains. If he offered a complete flat pack then I could start saving now!

                and this one

Greetings, After a successful SEOS build for my mains: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1417294/seos12-2512-build , it's time to start the build for the side surrounds. As background, my original setup was an aging Paradigm 5.1 system. I replaced the front LCR speakers with SEOS12/DNA-360/2512...

I'm not sure a 2.5way makes much sense with these. The baffle step point is a little lower than normal. I found with my alpha8a design (I posted a pic a few posts back) that baffle step was easily accounted for in the cross over. 2.5ways add a lot of complexity for not much gain. The alpha8a does dig nice and deep, though a little lumpy, considering what it is. I suppose in a tower with lots of volume, 2 of them would likely make really good bass. And you could go very loud. I used mine sealed with subs.

There are flat packs for every speaker kit. I just haven't uploaded the photos for the SEOS models yet. They should be up by Monday.

The Overnight Sensation cabinets and kits will be back in stock in less than a week.

Nah, I sent the last pair out 3-4 days before Christmas. I was worried if they would arrive in time. If they were out of stock before that, it might have been because PE was out of a crossover part or something. But it certainly hasn't been a month my friend.

I've spent the past 2 weeks getting all these new kits uploaded, photos taken, crossover parts, baffles, flat packs, shipping boxes, etc, etc. Plus I test every compression driver before they ship. And finalizing subwoofer boxes. I thought I did pretty good with about 20+ designs. :D So something had to take a hit, and it happened to be the OS MTM's!

But seriously, they will be listed very soon. Same with the subwoofer flat packs. Those were difficult and time consuming because of all the different designs everyone wanted. I've got some already, but haven't had time to update the site or get new photos.

I know there will be 1cuft, 1.25cuft, 2cuft, 3cuft, 4cuft, (all sealed) and then at least 2 designs with passive radiators. 2 designs are dual opposed. 1 design has dual 12's mounted in a taller slender box. I'll work on the ported models later.

Originally intended for side and rear applications a lot of people will use it for front mains too, especially along with a subwoofer. I will post pics later.
I'm probably not alone on this, but given the wide variety of choices for these designs, I would be very interested to hear what you think the differences are between the 8" and the 12" versions you've done (or any of the other designers for that matter) once you've finished.

What would be the tipping point where you'd say, 'yeah, I really need the tempest'. Is it power handling? Is it SQ? Off axis response?

Sound quality was obviously the biggest criteria. None of the designs are bad at all, even the lowest cost models. If they weren't really good, they wouldn't have made it to kit form. Some designs were done that just didn't fit in, so we didn't use them. I thought it was a good idea to have 3 price structures just so people had options based on their budget. None will disappoint. Heck, I have the Karma-10 in my living room.

I'll try to go into more details later, but I'm not much of a salesman, I just help make the kits available. :D

If I had to quickly describe it, I would say the Karma Series was specifically designed to keep the price very low while still using good name brand parts. A lot of time was put into these to make them sound really good with just enough crossover parts to get there, while keeping the cost low.

The Fusion Series and Alpha Series would both sound great and they're very similar. I simply broke those designs into 2 groups based on price so it was easier to compare. The price difference is mostly due to the woofer.
