  • Has Anyone Seen the New Kits Lineup at DIYsoundgroup?

It looks like Erich has really done a great job with all the new kits he is offering. Has anyone seen and or built any of the kits he is offering?

I really like the looks of a few of them. What do you guys think?

    BTW, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I am working on a new 8" two-way with waveguide kit that will be reasonably high efficiency in a small box and will surprise you on what it can do. Originally intended for side and rear applications a lot of people will use it for front mains too, especially along with a subwoofer. I will post pics later. I am planning to take measurements today (between football games and man-food. The colby, summer sausage, olives, peppers, chips and dip are ready to go).

And speaking of subwoofers, I am planning three. I just designed and built a 10" sub that is very small (.66 cu ft) and still hits 28Hz with pretty high output. The biggest one, next on the list, will be a 15" sub in a 19" cube with dual passive radiators that will shake your house. I will not be responsible for any damge - you must drive responsibly.:D

I've been waiting on a shipped price for Jeff's Deltalite 12 kit, including the box, but all I see is the baffle, drivers and crossover parts.

Perhaps Erich will get it up in a few weeks.

I like the idea of the whole Econowave line but the 8" versions excite me the most since the baffle isn't much larger then what you would see on a typical 7" two-way but the sensitivity and maximum output are much better. Jeff, any chance you would ever consider an 8" 2.5 way TMM in the from of a small tower keeping the same 9 1/2" baffle width? It wouldn't take up any more floor space than the 8" 2 way on a stand but the performance might be closer to that of the 12" 2 ways.

I'm still just helping out with these and packaging in my spare time. Eventually that might change and it has been discussed on another forum. The goal right now is to just keep the kit prices as low as possible so people can build some great speakers. The SEOS project was a huge undertaking. But in a little over a year, the DIY community went from testing the waveguides to getting them mass produced, finding great compression drivers, and designing over 20.......20 speaker kits around all of this! That's a heck of a thing if you ask me. :D

Parts Express has been nice enough to offer some discounts on the parts used in these kits. I then use that discount to offer free shipping and try to offset the Paypal fees as much as possible. The prices for the kits are pretty much retail price for all the items. I do add in about $5 - $10 that goes directly to the speaker designer for their help. It's not much, but I think it's a great way to thank the designers for their work.

The subwoofer kits and subwoofer flat packs are almost done. They should have been finished by now, but with all the other kits finally coming together, it was a bit much to do all at once. There will be a box for nearly every popular subwoofer PE carries......including the 18" LMS and new 18" Dayton model.

There are flat packs for all the waveguide speakers as well, I just need to get the photos uploaded.

                    It's getting pretty crazy.

It was too difficult to estimate free shipping for the heavy kits over the whole country because rates varied a LOT. Plus some people want to build their own box, so it made sense to offer the kits with just the baffles because those are the hardest part of the box to build. The flat packs will be shipped separately.

                          Erich,
You mentioned previously in another thread that there was interest in doing at least the front baffle for the Stentorians. Is this still in the works? I would be interested in both the regular layout as well as the center channel layout.

Ok, if I order the flat pack and the kit with the baffle and drivers, will the flat pack include another baffle that I don't need?

                            Thanks...

Nope, you'll just be getting what you need.

JeffKnob25, I do have the Stenorian baffles, I just didn't list them. I'll try to get those up in the next few days now that you reminded me.
