I was thinking about this the other day, that 3D printers would be awesome for small speakers with unusual shapes.

There's a lot of cool stuff coming out. You can buy 3-axis CNC kits relatively cheaply now and do really nice work for just a few thousand dollars: (sounds like a lot, but our CNC machines at work cost a minimum of a quarter mil!)

And the 3D printing marketing is just absolutely exploding right now. SolidDoodle is taking orders for Model 3 of their 3D printer line, which is $799 and has an 8" x 8" work surface. That may not sound big, but for a desktop 3D printer under $20K, that's pretty amazing! We had a professional model that we bought used at work for $100K, so for $800, that's really awesome:

Filament type of d3 printers seam like fun toys, but, I'm looking at building a "dlp printer"
