Ebay there are two listed right now, one for $550 and the other for $800.
Don't listen to me - I have not sold any $150,000 speakers.

I'm going to go ahead and grab it, will take a computer, some cables, and a couple air-movement devices to make sure it is not dead or dying. Just waiting for the seller to get back to me.

Rarely does anything show up on CL here that isn't just peoples trash they are try to sell for way to much, electronics/tools/cars/etc... not the best area for 'Deals on Goodies'. Now you want a 1991 civic with 400k miles with no paint, needs a trans, but has 2 10's hooked up straight from the Kingwood (not kenwood) tape deck for 4k - the Ventura Craigslist is the place :D

Going to meet the guy in a few hours, he is going to set it up for audition at his place. Welcomed me to bring along whatever I would like to test as well.

Looks like I got to start digging a hole in the yard for either me or the amp, Moma gonna be mad
He claims to have more goodies as well.

Good catch! I have one driving a pair of 2ohm Acoustat electrostatics with no complaints. It is a beast.

Re: Adcom GFA-5800 - info requested.

I have an Adcom GFA-5400. It was the first sort of "high-end" amp I ever got (yeah, I know it isn't. Still).

Seriously. It's the last piece of equipment I'd ever sell. It's just GREAT. It has done everything - and I mean it. It has powered electrostatics, satellites, towers - even 4 15" IB subwoofers. I used it with tube amps, SS amps, direct from an iPod. I've had it on a shelf, on the floor, on top of the subwoofer. I've used it as a serious listening amp and as an amp for measurements. It has done it all, and it has never even blown a fuse. It sounds great. It makes my Rotel RB-1070 look extremely cheap in comparison. What more is there to say?

It's the best piece of equipment I own, easily. Everything should be built as well as an Adcom.

I love my Adcom GFA 555. I have had it since 1985 and it still runs like new. I read somewhere here that it may be time for a recap. When it came out I was surprised to hear Adcom characterized as mid-fi. It sounded Hi-Fi to me.

Found the schematic and some service info in this thread: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/solid...-question.html

Turns out the 5800 is one of the Adcom's Nelson Pass designed.

I have the exact same storyline with my 5400 and 5200. They are simply workhorses that do anything.
