  • Biggest sale regrets

So a couple months ago, I let go of a pair of JBL's not knowing everything about them. Surprisingly, a friend's dad of mine just gave them to me because he knew I was into speakers and everything and he was replacing them with another pair - I figured they were nice, but nothing absolutely incredible since he was willing to just give them to me. Well, I posted them on craigslist after having them for a couple of years and sold them. Sadly I let go of a pair of JBL 250ti's without knowing their value! (I even let my brother use them at a college party one time :eek I really wish I would have kept those things around! They were still in very good condition with minor scratches, but that's it. They were the teak finish but I was wondering, anyone else had a moment like mine? Where you let go of something without really knowing what it was to later find out they were something worth keeping?

A factory built Dynaco FM3. A store let me take it home to try and only wanted $50.00 for it. At the time (late 70's) it was too much for me. I kick myself for not buying it everytime I think about it!

I had an Infinity CSW-10 I picked up in a pawnshop that used a really killer 10" CMMD driver with over 25mm of excursion. Looked very much like a TC Sounds. I bought it for $200 and used it at my PC for awhile, sold it for $250 to finance some other projects. Regret it to this day, in hindsight would rather have repurposed that driver.
Don't listen to me - I have not sold any $150,000 speakers.

            Re: Biggest sale regrets

There are some things I bought in my earlier days (mostly kits) that I kind of regret because I don't really need them so they're taking up space. I've got to build them just to build them and/or then sell or give them away.

There are also some buyouts or DoTDs I wish I'd bought but didn't like the Klipsch sub drivers when they hit their lowest point.
I'm sure however my utilities and my mortgage don't have any regrets about me having paid them on time, heheh.

There were some big Aura subwoofers on buyout about a year ago that had iridescent dust caps. Definitely should have bought a pair, but didn't have any available funds at the time. I regret that one just because of the great deal I missed out on.

The only sale I really regret is selling my M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard. Should not have done that, and worse I sold it to a friend of mine that I'm pretty sure isn't using it. He put it on the shelf to collect dust, when I could be using it on a daily basis.

Well see if he'll sell it back to you cheap. That or you can buy a Soundblaster Audigy and use the custom KXdrivers with them pretty reasonably these days. Same emu10k1 chip.

That's what I had before I got the M-Audio card, and before the switch to Linux.

Now I have a Auzentech something or other than has a similar chip to the M-audio card, so I am content.

No problem. You can get another pair for just $2,800.

My amazingly reliable, even after 194,000 miles of great memories, 1988 GL1500 Honda. Also the 2007 Ural Tourist sidecar bike I had the pleasure of owning for a while. No commercial speakers, though, since I've never owned any...except car audio speakers. I wish I had bought that nice Luxman gear with my employee discount when I had a chance. Or maybe Tandberg.
