Looks good! Now, hook those 4-5 wires up and turn it on

I have no association with this seller, but if anyone is watching this thread and curious about tubes, this is on eBay with 2 hours left and zero bids. It has good edcor iron and piecing it together would certainly be more than the starting bid.

On another note, thanks Craig for lighting the fire! You inspired me to actually finish the wiring on my little amp

Now she glows. Time to put it on Audiogon. LOL!

Well guys this project is approaching completion. Luckily there is always one or more waiting right behind it Anyway, I was able to finish the output transformer wiring after work tonight. Here are a few shots.

The output transformer to speaker terminal wires:

And finally the B+, plate, and ultra linear wires:

Dinner time and then play with the kids before their bed time. I'll get to power this baby up this weekend for sure! I'll post some glowing pictures

I have wanted to learn how to build and design these for months. I've been trying to find forums and other resources but it is surprisingly hard to find concrete, concise information. What would you obvious tube experts recommend for reading material and first projects to get me started?

A lot of info available at this link, both depth and breadth:
(if already familiar with basic electronics, start with the Radiotron Designers handbooks, 3rd and then 4th editions)

Some good info related to specific circuits available here:

I started with "Beginners Guide to Tube Audio Design" by Bruce Rozenblit (PE part number 500-108). Pretty good book. I've read many other people say there is a book by Morgan Jones that is supposed to be the best.

It's ALIVE!!!! I've been listening to this amp for about an hour now, switching between Ultra Linear mode and Triode mode as well as between the driver R-C cathode bias and the LED bias. So far with only the EL34 output tubes. I can say one thing for sure... I really don't like the LED cathode bias on the driver tube. It just sound grainy/edgy to me. Obviously I need a lot more listening time on this amp to better decide which configuration I like best. I also need to try the bigger KT88 tubes. But so far it sounds really good and obviously nothing went boom or up in smoke :P
