I'm listening to Hank Williams Jr. right now, but I was listening to ENYA just before, and Eddie Cantor before that. Frank Sinatra is on deck followed by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass "Going Places". Figure THAT out. I'll catch "Golden Boy" on the tube and go back to the tunes. Some of these are CeeDee's and some are LP's and some are 78's. Pick your poisons. I like too many kinds of music too much.

I have a similar stack in that it has both Norah and Led Zeppelin in it, but instead of Meat Loaf it currently has the Garden State soundtrack, Ayreon's Timeline, and something by Rainbow.

...and instead of Bridgit Mendler it has Keisha. She helps drown out the voices in my head. Sort of.

Anyway, it might be interesting to record what is in your "recently played" stack based on a particular mood, or even just once a month to see how it changes over time. I'll certainly go on kicks where I mostly listen to just jazz, just classic rock, or just progressive rock - but then I'll go right back to seemingly a random selection method.

I would be more worried that you are still playing CDs. I ripped my collection years ago. I am not even sure where my physical CDs are.

Every now and then I go through them and put them away, and then the stacks start all over again. Earlier I was walking by and noticed one of the stacks (there are several, actually) and it occurred to me that the combination of CD’s in that stack caught me as humorously (or disturbingly) odd, and I wondered what this must say about my personality. Here’s the actual list of artists / albums in that particular stack in the order they were stacked:

Only had time for a quick listen today, but I went from Cake to the Carpenters to Motley Crue. Songs were "Never There", "Goodbye to Love", and "Looks that Kill".

Freud would have a field day.

I envy your collection, especially if that is just a small slice.

Oh, BTW, "Birdland" is one of my all-time favorite tracks. What a strange, wonderful grouping that iteration of Weather Report was.

I could never stand to run my drive on random, now that would bring me to the psycho stage.

Ain't. No. Lie. Of course when you have Jaco on bass I'm inclined to agree that it's a great thing to behold.

Yes, its hard to peg her because she covers a wide range of styles. I went with JPOP simply because a lot of her anime OP/ED songs are, but she has everything from techno to classical under belt, mmm. Thanks for the link, MAXIMUM THE HORMONE is crazy fun!

I had a hell of a time trying to figure out how Zawinul was getting those bends out of his keyboard in the first 30 seconds or so. When I saw a video of the song played live, I had to pick my jaw off the keyboard, seeing that it was Jaco playing those licks on the bass. What a ridiculously talented dude, and what a loss to the music world when he died.:(

Yeah, he absolutely melts my mind. I wish I could have had a picture of my face when my bass instructor from a few years ago plopped the chart for Teen Town in front of me and said "this is what we're gonna do next". My response to that is filter fodder here but I still (try) to practice it. I still suck at playing it but the challenge is great fun for the S&M bassist. And to think he played fretless................
