I picked up a Yamaha S2500 - they go for about $650. It boots up slower than my Uncle Alvin afer a bender, but the sound is flawless, the video sparkles, and Yamaha's connection options seem endless. If the darn thing geared up a little faster, I'd be happier, but overall it's a small price to pay.

I've had a Pioneer 563A for over a year and would definately call it a good value at less than $200. My DVD-A experiences have been mixed (I think it's primarily because of poor 5.1 mixing, almost like they are engineered for some small-range HTIB), but SACD can be quite astonishing. I've purchased quite a few of the Blue Note SACDs (mostly 2-channel) that I was very familiar with in their latest CD remasters, and the SACD versions just seemed to represent some of the live ambience better. YMMV, but with the price gap closing between SACD/DVD-A and traditional CD (both the players and the recordings), I'm glad I took the plunge.
