I have settled on driver selection A) because I found them at a good price, and B) As promised, I selected drivers from PE catalog pages.
The PPB cone HDS looks like a good performer having similar, smooth performance as the 830883 I used in my other dipoles, but with a much smoother rolloff and not nearly as much breakup in the higher frequencies to tame.

I will still have to purchase the IB drivers, and hope they remain on sale until I can buy them. Too many vacations coming up.
Here is the final design idea. No longer a mandolin shape, but more guitar shaped.

I'm still drinking about how to attach the tweeter baffle, but I think I have it figured out.

Something like this, but I am waiting on brushes for my router before I can tinker with the design.
I will also try to keep the machining as simple as possible for those who want to build it. I get a little carried away sometimes and do very dumb things with power tools that is not "good practice" to achieve some things.
