              Re: Major Garage Sale Score

Well back in its day it was up there. My 5000 was about 600 back in the day. The 7000 sereis is the big boy for 1800. So it was in there some where...

This guy has 30 year old klipch stage monitors for 10 bucks.... Too bad 30year old paper cones would probably vaporize when you cranked them up....

He said 5 bucks and I took a gamble. I know marantz has circuit protection that shuts the device down on a problem and you need to hold 3 buttons down to get it back. Most people think they blew their receiver up in a storm or shorting the speaker cables. But it just protects itself.... A quick web search. Three fingers and boom... Powered right up......

No remote....I am sure my 5000 remote will do the basics. A couple of speaker terminals are cracked. But I am probably gonna use this at my shop at work anyway....

                    Nice score!

I'm a fan. They seem to have better heat sinks compared to Onkyo, Denon, Yamaha, etc. I don't know about that exact one, but every Marantz spec I've seen, they are rated at .08% distortion at rated power. Often times, others are rated the same at half power. They just seem to sound a little better and not break up when pushed a little.

Wonder what threw it in to protective mode. They must have really been jamming or using the wrong Ohm speakers.

My 60 year old Altec cones can still make your ears hurt without turning to dust.

Nice score on the Marantz, I'm a fan of them also.
