measured in the cabinet and modeled the crossover. Trying to use as little parts as possible here because of the cabinet size. Modeled response is fairly smooth.
All is let to alligator the parts together and see how it performs.

Just gorgeous. The leather with the beautiful wood makes me think Sonus Faber for some reason. Very nice work.

Man does not live by measurements alone, a little music helps.

You know you could have wrapped the leather inside the driver cutouts, using it as a gasket.

                thanks guys.

yeah, good idea Mike. Next time I will. I dunno how I didn't think of that.
On this one, the leather will go inside just a bit and the drivers have their own gaskets.

this is the actual system response. The near field and the port are not spliced.

                  and the impedance.

Modeled results are fairly close the response. Time for a listening session now.

here she is, actually, upside down. The port is facing "up".

Roman, how did these end up turning out. We got to "time for a listening session" and then never heard anything else.

Sorry, I've been busy with the work and Iron Driver. They are playing as I type.

I did a shoot out with 3 other small monitors at my friend's house. We compared it to a Denis Murphy Seas Excel/Raven speaker, Tyler Acoustics Seas Excel/Copper ring tweeter and a pricy Focal stand mounted speaker from California.
Tyler will be coming to me for crossover re-design. I don't know who does crossovers for him but we couldn't stand the sound of these. I may publish new crossover for the driver combo as the project is brought to life.
The commercial counterpart from California (I can't remember the name, it was shaped as a pyramid) Had a larger Focal woofer, lower extending bass response and over all could play a bit louder. I was somewhat ambivalent about the sound. The speaker did not sound neutral. I am also not a huge fan of Focal tweeters. Nothing wrong with them, just never been able to be wowed by the sound.
The Raven/Excel design by Denis Murphy was very pleasant to listen too. May be even a bit laid back for my taste but for a wide variety of music it was the best "can listen to them all day" kinda speaker.
Vopli did very well as far as the woofer goes. Visaton tweeter did not impress anyone. It sounded like tweeter rather then music. Almost a dull quality to the sound. VifaNE had the best midrange of the day. Extremely pleased with the sound. My friend was in the process of selecting a midrange driver for the upcoming WMTMW Accuton build and decided to go with NE right there.
Then I brought the speakers home, MrsR said NO! Too big, She said! Not going to look good with the desk! They are in my main HT system now. No complaints. I'll have to build a smaller set for her.

Are you going to change tweeters now? That gorgeous cabinet you built deserves a top notch tweeter!

No, I'll keep these tweeters in. They are good enough for HT duty.
