Honestly, I'd say use a cheap Home Theater receiver. It will give you the most freedom to tweak the settings for the 4.1 setup. You have the right idea, though. The Voxel lends itself well to small HT and gaming setups. Go for it!

my original plan was using something like gordy use in madeleine (see picture)
i was looking around for sure amp but cannot find one for 4.1 system.
i will consider your sugestion and look for budget receiver, if i cannot find one good budget receiver than i will go with voxel + ONS

I wanted to post my Tang Band Voxel inspired build in this thread. I was planning to make an enclosure out of MDF but was walking through home depot and saw this beautiful 3/4 curly oak board that I couldn't pass up. I had to re-work some of the dimensions for the simplicity of cuts which were done at home depot and to model a little more flat response. I finished and sealed inside and out with Danish oil. Still trying to decide if I will french polish it to a high gloss.

The enclosure is about 10.2L internally after accounting for the driver, port and amp. With the same 2 X 1.5 inch x 8 inch flared port back to back it tunes the box to about 38hz. This models a little more flat and deeper than the Voxel; it's +/- 0.5 DB to 40HZ, F3 of 33hz, F6 of 31hz and F10 of 28hz. I integrated the SA25 amplifier since it was onsale, the driver has a PE of 40W, so I am gving up about 2db max SPL (25 watts yields 96db). At 40W with the current port, max air speed is 44m/s at 34hz which could chuff ...but at the max of 25W it's only 34m/s which is text book.

All in all it measures remarkably well and sounds really great. The plate amp makes it a bit more versatile and drives it almost to Max. I am very grateful to Paul for his Design. It really sounds great. This is my first project.

i would like to chime in and thank Paul again for a great little sub. Had some time listening along with Jeff's little Quarks in my office. One thing, it just doesn't sound like a little surround system but in fact huge!!!

If you glued 2 of THOSE together, you'd get 300mm O.A. (about 11.8") w/the straight part being approx. 10.3".
That'd be OK by me (if you can fit them in your cab w/at least 1.5" of clearance around the inner terminus).
If you'd feel better about it, cut out an inch (or 2).

I'm asking about length because I'm going to use two bassport from this shop: http://willys-hifi.com/products/bass-reflex-port-38mm. l still have to glue them together and was wonder if overall length have to be 9" or 8".

9" models SLIGHTly better, but . . . I THINK Paul's saying that the 9" is the overall length (including the 2 radiused ends). If you made you own vent out of 1.5" PVC (straight - which could lead to chuffing) it could be just 8" long. Regardless, if you bought 2 of those tubes, and use them following Paul's instructions, all will be well.

Also if you look at the voxel I built I used one larger port instead of using 2 of them put together. Paul was able to verify that it was the correct size, so that might work and fit better for you.
