  • Grinnell or Bust

After the recent 101 degree weather in the midwest I've finally been able to stand working in the garage on my Grinnell project. Hopefully I'll be able to get them done in time.

It's gone pretty well so far except the the tear out on the Baltic birch round overs. I think some of the plywood layers weren't glued very well. I was taking 1/8 inch passes and some sides were fine and some weren't. I was seeing the same thing when I was cutting up the panels on the table saw. Some cuts were clean and some chipped badly. I already have a new batch of wood filler. ;-) Next up will be the cherry veneer and some solid cherry corners.

Don't listen to me - I have not sold any $150,000 speakers.

No offense to this gentleman, but the minimum allowable distance to Grinnell is 300 miles. We have guys driving laps around Des Moines just to meet that requirement! ;)

363 miles for me and my posse that weekend.

69 miles for me which will give me more time to work on the speakers. Filling tear out and sanding is tedious.

I wish I could go but its 1,760 miles away and I can't afford the plane tickets right now.
