hello, i was curious if anyone ever attemped something like Bose's Acoustic wave cannon system. Maybe something smaller? i am interested in this system and am going to add it to my "Future Projects" list. if anyone has experience or would just like to share something, I would really enjoy your input!

Once you have heard some good DIY stuff you will realise that anything Bose offers is "mediocre" at best, and certainly not worth trying to clone!

You will get far better response from a well designed normal sub.

Our local High School has one of those installed in their 800 seat auditorium along with some Bose 802's . The worst sounding piece of crap I have ever heard. Don't waste your time trying to emulate it.

I saw one of these a while back, thought it looked cool, and thought it should be pretty easy to DIY in plastic or sonotube....

What happened is I researched to get specs and such. And found that it's not a very good use of a driver (you'ld be doing better it seemed by putting it in a decent vented box) the 1/3d 2/3d's dimensioning results in a sorta tuned enclosure, but it needs LOTS of electronic correction to make it flat.. and it still ends up with a F3 in the low 30's, IIRC.

Kinda dissapointing, but it's BOSE, I should be surprised? I never ended up building any prototypes..

Yes, the design is as old as dirt. If Bose actually has a patent on this it just goes to show how entirely f***ed up the US patent system really is.

The "acoustic wave cannon" is nothing more than an unequal length transmission line (almost an H-baffle) in a pipe.

That you didn't read the patent or didn't understand it.

The Bose Cannon is based on half-square antenna theory (RF), and is an inovation for audio.

To discuss this intelligently it would help to read the 200+ posts I linked to above, then you might learn a bit about what you are talking about.
