  • Suggested PE Website Improvements

Since the "Bravo PE! You have done it again!" thread has been closed, possibly because of the negative direction it took (partly my fault), it would still be nice to be able to comment and provide suggestions improving navigation and usefulness in various areas.

    So here goes:

    1. PE, I really miss the wish list we used to have. Can you bring it back?

    2. Also I find the "musical" saved carts hard to navigate and miss the ability to update the whole cart at once instead of item by item as is the case now.

I like the "wish list" idea. I use it on Newegg all the time. I set up a wish list for the person I am going to build a computer for. When I am ready to order the parts I simply order the wish list. I would love to be able to do this with speakers builds as well!!!

Price drop alerts would be very usefull.

Say I'm thinking about a build sometime with an RS180 and RS28, I check both as "email me if there is a price drop"
      and sales go up....

I know we've all missed DOTDs that would have saved us money.

The new website has the ability to save multiple carts by name. This gives you the ability to build many different carts by project name or bill-of-materials name. (this is better than a single wish list) and then when you are ready to buy you simply move the items to your active cart.

        Check it out

I guess I miss the wish list too but I tended to abuse it... I saved several dozen items that interested me but I seldom bought any of them. If they bring it back then I'll try to be more conservative in its use. I think the multiple carts are an excellent idea but any changes take time to become accustomed to.

If you like we can change the name of the "saved cart" to "saved wish list"... it is basically the same thing but you can have many different ones.

Don, The price drop alert is a great idea. I will add that to our list. Thanks!!

Didn't notice that. Really great idea!

I check the deal of the day pretty much everyday. and I check the on sale, clearance and specials fairly often and I appreciate parts express doing that. It is kind of disappointing to see a back up alarm or some type of tape as the deal of the day though. Parts Express can do as they wish and its not problem for me, its just that seeing a raw driver or an amp that I could potentially use is a bigger motivator for me to check the deal of the day than a back up alarm is.

Unless you happen to be shopping for an alarm! ;) The deals are hit and miss, but there have been many times I've found the deal to be generous and useful. Not every time, and that's fine. Can't be 50% off on a $200 tweeter everyday y'know. I just can't find cause to complain about a random (often substantial) discount that PE has no obligation to offer. It has saved me some cash a few times, and convinced me to place an order I might not have placed otherwise. Win / win.

Like I said, its not a problem. I'll likely buy from Parts Express before Crutchfied or Best Buy and some others. edit... I wouldn't call it a complaint as much as it is a suggestion to improve the PE website.

                            Re: Suggested PE Website Improvements

On the last site I could browse for a product, find it, then log in and add it to my cart.

Now if I'm on a product page, and log in, I'm taken back to the home page versus the product I was just going to order. So I have to go find the product again to add it to the cart. If I hit the back button to go back to the product I was looking at prior to logging in......I'm logged back out of the system.

The last time I was placing a big order for a bunch of items the system must have logged me out in the middle of my ordering and I didn't even know it. When I hit the forward button I was logged in with $900 worth of stuff in the cart. But when I hit the back button half the order was in another cart for customer that isn't logged in. At that point there's no way to combine both carts, so you have to start the order over to make sure everything is in the same cart.

Is there a way to stay logged into the site for an extended amount of time? Or at least after logging in, can it take you back to the page you were just on?

                              Re: Suggested PE Website Improvements

I would like the "What's New" page to be organized by newest first, or at least similar to the old layout. Right now I have to rely on the sleuths in this forum to point out new product offerings. Right now there's 485 "new" products at PE, and I find myself forgetting which ones I've browsed through before. Including clearance and buyout product in that section would be nice as well. Overall though I think the new layout is great, but I only order perhaps a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff per year so the wish-opping cart issues don't bother me as much.
