No. It boosts the bass a bit by altering the Q of the bottom end rolloff. What parameters does BassBox use to model the top end rolloff? Are you just talking about the rolloff from Le? BassBox doesn't reference actual frequency response curves, does it?

No, it doesn't. It is driven by the Thiele-Small parameters. Yes, it seems the higher the Le, the faster the roll off, which makes sense. I haven't done any modeling before and am just poking around at it.

That Le model does NOT mirror a driver's actual freq. response. It IS a clue to the driver designer of ONE of the (many) factors that they'll have to wrangle with (in addition to cone material, cone profile, surround material and shape, motor design and strength, and yada yada yada - more things than I can list or even know about) to end up with the response they'll ultimately settle on.

No it runs full range with no BSC or other filters.

what is the name of the speaker sitting on top of the sprite? looks like a small sealed left/right with a small sub passively radiated in the middle. i like the shape.

i was looking to do something similar with minion iii's or wolf's pc speakers on the ends.

i just completed my second project: boombox with sealed stereo nd-90-8's and a ported nd-105-4. sounds fantastic (if i do say so). it's in the general shape of an 80's boombox (i should post it to the forums, but i'm lazy). the speaker you have is shaped like the modern portable bluetooth speakers. i like it.

I believe you are talking about the soundbar looking speaker. It was a center channel design I was playing around with using the original Minion drivers. There is an Antey24 tower standing behind it in the picture which I think you might be confusing as the passive sub you mentioned.

Yeah, that "soundbar looking" speaker is the one I'm talking about. The dustcap on the left-inner driver was dusty so I thought it was one of those concave peerless passive radiators linked to the other inner driver. Also, when I said "sub" I meant tiny driver tuned to play lower frequencies. Not interested in the Antey24 tower...for now.

I'd ask for more info on the center channel, but it looks like you're running 2 of the same driver in a 4"x4"x8" ID rectangular prism. Any polyfill? Does it sound better than a traditional pair of minion iii's set up the same distance apart?

I think I'd like to make a boombox about the same size with minion iii's on the ends and a center chamber with a passively radiated nd90-4. I might even try to tune a driver for that "sub" chamber that looks more like those tang bands for aesthetic purposes.

BTW, thanks for the quick response. I've been a long time lurker, but I feel like I might step up to say a bit more on the forums. I love the community aspect.

Each chamber is double the volume as an original Minion to accommodate two drivers in each chamber. Same thing for stuffing, about twice as much as a single driver Minion. I never tried this with Minion III drivers or compared it to a pair of Minion IIIs. I ran the wires for each pair of drivers out through the center section so I run them as stereo pairs or so I could wire them series/parallel as a single center channel.
