The 4" looks great and $35 cheaper. The 2"??

Perhaps not a great idea, but the 2" would look awesome pared with the underhung Tang Band 4" (the one used in the Speedsters).

Nice to see Madisound picked them up. The German magazines reviewed them in October. I was in Austria at the time and picked up the then current issues of K+T and HobbyHiFi. While for IP reasons I won't post the reviews, when I get a chance to be in front of the reviews I'll summarize the data and comments.

                New SS-Discovery drivers....

I continually recommend the 4" discovery to guys in car audio due to its small footprint and well damped cone. I imagine this new one will also be a highly recommended driver as well.

I'm curious what this looks like on the klippel. Anyone happen to know if VC/Pat Turnmire has done testing on this yet?

                      Re: New SS-Discovery drivers....

So this 10F is a less expensive version of the other 10F? Nothing wrong with that, 10F is great, though for DIY I think most would splurge on the 10F/8424 or 10F/4424.

2" is just too small a driver IMO. If the sensitivity weren't so low I'd say it would maybe be good use as a tweeter, that can cross lower than standard 1" tweeter. But with sensitivity that low you are limited to iThing speaker systems and perhaps an active system. 3" is about the limit for small drivers for me, below that sensitivity just isn't enough.

Erin Vance/Voice Coil has tested both the 2" and the 4". I think the 2 was in October and the 4 was this month or last month.

SS are making big claims for the 2" on their FB page but the freq response doesnt look great to me

Looks like same cone, less motor.

For a dedicated mid I'd still go for 15M/4624G. A bit larger, a bit sexier, and a whole lot more sensitive.
