    Paul,

As far as bang for the buck you have it beat hands down with the sprite. But I was surprised at the output of the Samsung. It did sound nice, just not $599.00 nice IMHO.

But the Samsung doesn't come in Bubinga and Wenge veneer either... :p

    Re: Competition for the Sprite

Ive just completed three pairs of the sprites. Ill have pics up by the weekend of the finished product I hope. I must say, if you havent heard them, well, DAYUM!!!!

The bass they produce really seems to defy all logic. Im currently building 5 Voxels to go with 5 pair of AURA NS3 based speaker pairs for christmas gifts. The Sprites to me could do without the sub.....however, I think using a sub will allow them to be unloaded some of their bass duties. For the money.....I don't think there's any competion.

I have been seeing that Samsung thing ever since it came out, though I've never actually heard one. I think the design of the Sprite was probably influenced by that radio, even if it was a somewhat subconscious thing. I do like the look of it, except for that weird glass petri dish growing out of the top.

I would love to see what is on the inside of one of those, would give you a better idea if it was worth $600. The box does look nice though.

    Competition for the Sprite

I went to Best Buy this weekend to pickup a wifi bluray player. I was walking towards the bluray players and saw three of these models setup on display.

The first two looked very similar to the size of the sprite and the fact they used two full range drivers. The top model was a two way with a tube amp that used what looked like the same full range drivers and two tweeters. Each of them had a dock for your phone and each one actually sounded pretty good. The tube amp model had an insane amount of bass for such a small speaker.

They are were finished in a piano black and looked really nice.

    Now for the bad news...

The tube amp version that had a very nice sound and lots of little features had a price tag of $599.00. As for me I expect a lot more then what was there for $599.00. They were nice, but not $599.00 nice. Now maybe if I was better off and I spent $600.00 bones like I would $6.00 bucks then sure. But there was no bang for the buck IMHO.

But I thought I would post the link to Samsung and get a consensus.

    Just thought it was interesting...
