Ok, maybe just Duluth. I know it's a lot colder here than where my wife's brother lives in Alaska, anyway. I could sure use a little of that global warming right now. Maybe the earth needs a face-lift, 'cause it appears something has definitely slipped south.....
Alright, enough whining, it's been cold before. But I'm home today because the they shut work down today due to the county issuing a state of emergency due to yesterday's blizzard. The big Jeep has new tires and I was ready to roll though.
We got 14" of snow yesterday. I went out in the afternoon and cleared a couple thousand cubic feet of snow from the driveway, but the high winds later filled a lot of it back in on me. The National Weather Service issued a Blizzard warning as the winds picked up to 40mph. They've died down now to about 25-30 mph, but since it is currently, with the sun shining, -13 deg F, the wind chill is running in the -40 to -50 range, so I don't think I want to go back out right now. It's supposed to drop to -18 tonight. Man, it's cold out there, it makes your lips, nose, and eyes, hurt when it hits you. We have at least kept our power on. South of here they lost power and had to evacuate people to a school so they could get some heat.
A lot you in the Midwest are in the same boat, so stay in and stay warm if you can.
Jeff
