  • Tag abuse. Moderator response requested.

I noticed today yet another example of the utility to tag a thread being abused with insults, ridicule, and disrespect. I am confident that this is not the intended purpose of being able to tag a thread. I request that the moderators identify, warn, and ban those responsible. Plain and simple, it's unbecoming to this forum. Also, can such tags please be removed. Thanks.

Anyone want to second that motion?

    Indignant in Indianapolis,
    David

75posts and you already want to have people beaned, removed ? Live it alone. Topic starters who care and disagree with tags can contact mods to have these removed. Other wise, there's no reason to start this complain.

I'm from Indianapolis too and I do not want to second that motion. This group knows each other pretty well so let them have at it if they want. No biggie.

It doesn't work like that David. Go have a drink, sit back and relax.

I don't know if anyone ever tagged my threads, I've never noticed. So, in my book, it don't make a difference.

Hmm, okay. I didn't anticipate that the legitimacy of my remarks would be based on my post count. Guess size does matter. Oh yes, I see now, yours is much, much bigger than mine. Well, now that you've pointed at and snickered at my small size, who's going to take my complain [sic] seriously, and how am I going to get anyone beaned [sic]? I think you're right, MrBigPostCount, I should just live it alone [sic], other wise [sic] I risk making of nuisance of myself and inadvertently inviting ridicule. But then, how am I going to get my post count up? And, if I can't get it up, I certainly don't want to draw public attention to that!

My point? If you want to demean someone then man-up, play fair, and do it in the thread with your identity attached. I enjoy spirited debate, and I consider insult and disrespect to have their place, particularly when well deserved. It can even be wicked fun; anybody up for a game of The Dozens? So, just to be clear, it's not the ill-maneredness of such things, it's the cowardice of misusing the tag utility and hiding behind the skirt of anonymity. I also, quite frankly, just don't care to be subjected to such sophomoric behavior as I scroll through the forum index. I'll take my petty, sophomoric behavior inside the thread, thank you very much, and even participate in it if I like.

While my post count isn't "up there," like some others, I have enjoyed visiting/reading this forum for many years (and more recently participating), and it seems to me that what I've termed a misuse of tags is a more recent and an increasing trend. I don't like it. I'd like to see it go away. But, should it continue, I won't be whining about it anymore.

                      Post-count envy in Indianapolis,
                      David

Time for a reality check, a small number "tag" and a smaller number use it as a weapon. Also, small post counts don't mean squat! There are long standing members that rarely post. Most members agree about nasty tags that only to hurt others, but those have been dealt with. It's time to relax and take time to experience the forum.

I never pay any attention to tags. Not by design, I just never got into the habit of it. What significant information is contained in tags? Nothing! It is the thread and posts that count.

Alright. Okay. I see what's happening. Y'all are adding a bunch a silly tags just to get my goat. Guess I asked for that. I suppose that, if I were to remark that at leat no one has tagged me a tag-o-phob, then that tag would immediately also be added. Go ahead, have your fun.
