What kind of different dimensions did you use for the Voxel?

I like nice and easy like that. I noticed that the port tube had to change since the knock down cabinet wouldn't allow for the 9" tube with the original design. Which tube length and diameter did you change it to?

PORT TUBE

It was funny I was going to use very similar dimensions as Pauls original and Leroy R and myself were playing with the driver and I thought instead of making it a downfiring sub like I had planned I decided that making it look like a TM with the port on top and woofer on bottom would be pretty cool so we went for it.

And I am glad we did... :D

I just ordered parts to build the Voxel sub myself! I really like the look of your front mounted driver and port and am looking for an asthetic solution such as you've done! So Bravo on a very good looking mini sub! But....I modeled your Voxel using WinISD as I think that you built it, at 0.56 ft^3 with the port that you specified ( 3" dia x 4.5" length ). I must be missing something as this models a 12 db peak in response at 74 hz and an F3 of only 53 hz.

I don't want to suggest that you are not pleased with the way it sounds, but this alignment isn't even close to the way Paul designed the Voxel to be.

Perhaps I'm missing something in what you actually did with the port?

When I was going to build it I contacted Paul and he said that as long as the cabinet was +/- 10% in size then it didn't matter. The port was just double the size of the two ports Paul has listed and I asked him as well and he said that would work.

I listen to it 8-9 hours a day at work, albeit at low levels. But when Leroy R and myself had finished the cabinet we put it through it paces and we both thought i sounded great and was 20 times the sub I needed at my desk at work. Teamed with the Minion III's it really rocked.

Yes I just used the port as is from parts express. It is a hard rocking sub in a small package for sure.

Kevin007 I was wondering how you have the Dayton 25 watt amp and the lepai 2020 hooked up with each other and how they eq together?

I was at my wife's grandparents house last weekend and just to test I took the lepai 2020 and wolf's pc speakers to see if there older flatscreen tv had variable volume output control and it did through 3.5mm hookup for headphones. They were very impressed with the sound and I would like to build them a 2.1 setup and what you have here looks great.

I just patch it in from my PC using the 3.5mm stereo jack to the lepai and use the speaker level inputs to go into the plate amp and then output to my Minion III's. Seems to work well for me. Cheap and easy. And I really like the sound of the minions too. For a little full range driver it really delivers.

If you look at the picture of the back you will see the high level inputs. You just run your speaker wire from the lepai to the back of the plate amp, then run speaker wire from the plate amp to the speakers. Then you adjust the crossover on the back. I just turn the freq control in the back up till it just sounds right. And bodda bing bodda boom your done :D

Can you tell me what port you used? Also, does it go below 40hz? My DB Plus 440's go down to 40hz, but I've always wanted to make a DIY speaker.

The minion III's do not go below 125 Hz. Bass duty is handled via the subwoofer.

The port I used for the sub was 268-322.
