Those are awesome looking!!! Ive done a couple versions of minions now and really enjoy them... I think I'm gonna do a cigar box version next and it looks like I need to do a voxel...

The Minion III drivers are used in the Minirigs speaker in very small aluminium cabinet with a claimed 70Hz low end. Check the minirigs.co.uk website.

I have their 2.1 portable set up and it absolutely rocks. The sub uses the 3”” Tang Band sub driver with 48Hz low end.

The minirigs are omnidirectional when placed with the drivers facing upwards and you do get good sound. The upper octaves though are not very clear unless you are facing the speaker. You do need the sub to fill in the lower end.

Its amazing how they have managed to squeeze so much sound from so small an enclosure. The minirigs are in a 4”” sealed circular cylinder about 3”” long. The sub is a 4”” ported circular cylinder about 8.5”” long. Both have a claimed 80hrs battery life at low volumes.

BTW.... Has anyone tried the Minions III and Voxel in one unit as a 2.1 boombox? The Voxel require a 7L ported enclosure and the Minions about 1L sealed each. So, for something about the size and shape of the Sprite, you could get a proper 2.1 boombox.

As blackie pointed out, that would have given a horrendous tuning situation. So far off the orig. design that I wouldn't even consider it a Voxel.

Given the Minions 8 ohm impedance, their sensitivity and max power handling, that combo would make a a nice table radio. But it would fall short of the "Boom" in boombox.

Actually, I was exactly looking for something like that...a higher than Sonos quality table radio that looks nice.
I'm getting a bit too old to want massive booms and explosions
