Re: Deltalite II 2512- TB75 1558-AudaxTW25A8 Combo Waveguide

Nice. I don't know how you and others around here even manage to get all the prototypes and finished products done. It takes me at least a month just to hang a picture, and I am careful not to raise my wife's expectations much beyond that.

When I finally get ready to do my speaker project, I will definitely look for options to invest my time however. I can find a lot of time to make my audio dreams come true, and apply some medium skill. It is the things that require expert skill and specialized tools that I have to sub out and pay for, and I don't mind that at all. But I am hoping to come up with something nice at some point that will maximize my willingness to put in some real sweat equity.

      Now that's interesting.
I'm repairing a sub woofer that got the corner damaged and in tracking down the paint to repaint the baffle I found out it is black suede. Made my Nextel.

Reading about it Nextel made this product for NASA because they wanted a special coating for the interior of the space shuttle. It had to be anti-static, chemically inert, scratch resistant, easy to clean and warm to the touch. Not sure how paint can be warm to the touch but the product sounds like it will hold up well.
The company is from Germany but has a branch in SC I sent the company an email so I'll wait to hear.

On the company website they have several speakers with that paint on them.

I never heard of them before, but know I've come in contact with the product...I would like to get my hands on some myself.

According to alibaba, there is a company in the US called Gateway Coatings that is a distributor for the product.

The Zu Audio Dark Matte finish looks pretty nice to me, and this Nextel suede paint is really neat. Wonder how hard it is to apply and what is required?

Just the quick search I did says it needs a " stippling primer so I assume you need their special primer then finish coat over that without sanding between primer and paint. Haven't heard from them yet.

Anybody know off hand what size box the AE TD12 calls for? The Deltalite says 3 c.f. vented. I didn't find anything on their site. I was just curious without modeling it if it was close.

I'd rather not bother him until I have the drivers and am ready to tune the cabinets.

I have some TD12s sitting here. They give you the most low end out of the bunch. A 2.5Ft^3 box tuned to 34Hz gives you an F3 of 45, F10 of 28. [email protected] The TD12h will in a 1.8Ft^3 box, tuned to 38Hz will do similar, with a little less low end and a loss in SPL of about 1.5-2dB from 50-100Hz. Although it requires a slighlty bigger box, the 12s seems to be the smoothest response. I know some folks like extended bass shlef type responses and if this is the case, the 12h would be the choice.

These look spectacular and measurements really promising. Do you have any plans to test a cone mid in the waveguide, like eg. Genelec's done: http://www.genelec.com/products/1038b/

Good to know they will work in a smaller box so if I can get 3 c.f. For the Deltalites I'll be good.
Let me know if you are thinking of getting rid of them.

I'm not sure. I hadn't planed on this mid but I had someone that wanted me to test it and I liked it so well I decided to build something with it.
