Re: New Project: The Jonquils (RS150P-8 + SB26STNC)
Look forward to seeing some graphs Craig.

Re: New Project: The Jonquils (RS150P-8 + SB26STNC)
Also I checked my parts bins and I have all the parts needed to build the prototype crossovers! I'll wait to post the schematic until the design (i.e. voicing) is complete.
The extended responses of these drivers dictate higher order electrical crossovers to achieve the desired final acoustic slopes. Because of that this will probably end up being a 10 component xo. Luckily 3 are resistors and none of the reactive parts are overly large or expensive. Stay tuned.
Re: New Project: The Jonquils (RS150P-8 + SB26STNC)
I've been listening to The Jonquil's since yesterday with the prototype crossovers exactly as I designed them in PCD using my in box measured driver responses. Two quick observations:
1) It is amazing how great a simulation can sound right out of the box. I'll be a little surprised if I end up changing much more than maybe a tweeter padding resistor during the voicing process. But I intend to keep an open mind (ears) and make any changes necessary.
2) Jeff B. was spot on when he praised the SB26STNC tweeter! The response is smooth and life like. For $36 you can't ask for much more.
Rory I really wanted to attend InDIYana and bring these. But my new job has gotten in the way. I have to also miss DDIY for the same reason :(
Well, bummer. Maybe there'll be another DIY design there using these, but I'm looking forward to hearing these in DIY designs. I hope I'll get to see you and the Jonquils at MWAF.
I'm on the edge of my seat for your detailed listening impressions once you finish the crossover design.

The best way to predict the future is to create it.
so Craig, are you going to be able to bring them to Iowa ? you are not getting out of this that easy.
craig
MWAF is pretty unlikely. But I will bring them to Iowa for sure along with another two way I've designed on paper (computer sims) but not started building yet.
